“Movie Star” 7th Birthday Party

Description

My daughter decided she wanted to have a Movie Star themed party.  We invited 20 girls to our home to walk the red carpet, watch a Barbie Movie in the theater room, and celebrate with cupcakes.

Design Inspiration

My inspiration came from the cupcakes I had seen on Pinterest.  I am not a baker, but these were super easy to make and just adorable.

Decorating Style

I love having a central themed table to showcase the goodies for the party.

Project Details

I knew having 20 little girls over could get costly, so I managed to find a lot of items at the Dollar Store.  The goodie bags consisted of plastic popcorn tubs from the dollar aisle at Target.  We filled them with a bag of micorwave popcorn, a mini trophy I found at Party City (6 for $5), and favor straws made by Paper Creativity on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/mlewis117?ref=seller_info).  I bought the paper popcorn containers at Hobby Lobby and I made the licorice container out of an old glass jar and some ribbon.  The cupcakes were made with regular white cake mix.  To make the "popcorn" topping I took mini marshmellow, cut them up and then smooshed them back together.  I then painted them with a little water mixed with yellow food coloring.  The water bottle wrappers and sign on the front door were also made by Paper Creativity on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/mlewis117?ref=seller_info).  We laid out a red carpet we found at Party City for the girls to walk down while the "paparazzi" took photos.  The best part of the whole party was my husband agreed to put on his tuxedo to greet the guests with some sparkling juice as each girl arrived.

Advice

Always look for the bulk items at dollar stores and the larger chains.  Try to think of the little extras that really make the day.  My husband in his tux was such a fun touch (and it didn't cost us a thing).  The girls felt like they really were movie stars for the day.
