Description
We wanted Kiara's nursery to be a quiet retreat from our hectic city lives. We made use of the paint colors we already use in rest of our home for the mural and then focused on artwork to bring life to our little one's space.
Design Inspiration
I grew up in Central Oregon and wanted to bring some of the natural beauty of the trees and mountains to Los Angeles. I have family in Portland, so the cloud and rain mobile brings both sides of the Oregon Cascades to Southern California.
Decorating Style
We were definitely on a budget and we knew the space wasn't going to be matchy so we used neutral colors and patterns.
Project Details
The mural was hand painted using two coats each of Behr Sandstone Cliffs, Granite Boulder for the trees, and pure white for the snow. The projection mobile is Chicco First Dreams Crib Mobile in blue from Babies R Us. The mobile is inspired by Etsy vendor goshandgolly. It only took a few gift bags I re-purposed, tape and thread. The artwork is Rie Munoz, an Alaskan artist, and various favorite children's books. The activity mat is Skip Hop Treetop Friends and the chalkboard circles are from Wall Candy Arts.
Favorite Items
The mural is definitely my favorite part. I love how soothing it is and that my little one will grow up with the mountain watching over her. I also love the chalkboard circles that are easily movable.
Advice
Have fun creating your new one's space and make it an extension of your home.

What color did you use for the main part of the wall? Love how you got the grays to go with the tan!

Thanks, Caren and Tasha. I had no idea I'd have so much fun nesting pre-baby!
