Gray, Owls, and Chevron!

Description

I wanted a nursery that was "out of the box".  I wanted something completely original and something that my husband and I created together.  Thank goodness he is so handy.  He built the raised panel wanes coating and put in the rustic wood floors all by himself.  He also built the closet and the book shelves.  I created custom curtains by using the leftover paint from the closet project and also painted all of the pictures frames to coordinate with our color scheme.  I found a lot of amazing details on Etsy.

Design Inspiration

My husband really wanted to build molding for the walls and I fell in love with the bedding.  We decided on a Turquoise and Gray color scheme and everything kind of fell into place.  The owls and the chevron were an after thought but probably ended up being my favorite elements.

Decorating Style

I am very matchy-matchy and I fight it so bad.  I love more of an eclectic look.  I am very detail oriented and love love LOVE accessories.

Project Details

The crib and dresser are Vista Couture by Sorelle Furniture.

Bedding is Full Circle Crib Bedding from Land of Nod.

The chair is the Ektorp Chair from Ikea.  We just found an old nursery glider and actually removed the "glider" portion and plan to attach it to the bottom of this Ikea chair.  The rug is also from Ikea.

Lamp and mirror are both random Home Goods purchases.

Frames were all from either TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or Home Goods and then spray painted to match our colors.

Book shelves were made with leftover molding pieces by my husband.

Totes in closet were from Lowes.

Owl pillow was made by jppinkdaisy (etsy).

Love pillow was made by honeypiedesign (etsy).

Chevron pillow on chair was made by simplydivinebyjoann (etsy).

Chevron ottoman was made by aletafae (etsy).

Chevron diaper caddy was made by baffinbags (etsy).

Owl always love you print was from pumpkinandbutterfly (etsy).

ABC Love print was from 2142stuart (etsy).

Favorite Items

My favorite items are the bedding, the owl pillow, the chevron details, and all of the pictures in the frames.

Advice

Keep it simple and clean.  Find a color scheme and just go with it.  Pick pieces that speak to you and that you fall in love with...
