For our son’s room, we wanted something more than just a nursery. The room is rather large, so we made it more of a child’s room with a play area that he could grow up in, not immediately grow out of.
A big boy room with bunk beds, built-in’s and playspace on the floor!
Our son Julian loves robots, so we decided a robot big boy room was the perfect choice when we recently remolded his bedroom.
Big Girl Shoes and lot’s of Pink!
The Goal: To make this room into a cool, modern, masculine bedroom that would make this 3 years old transition into a big boy fun and a little less scary. The Challenge: To make the space fun for a kid but design it in such away that it can easily grow and morph with the boy. Basically the clients really craved longevity with the design.
When we moved into our house, my daughter’s room was deep purple on the top, and light lavender on the bottom with tons of flower decals and quotes on the walls. There was also dated white carpet, which we have unfortunately not replaced. So, we tried to make the best of it.
We started by boldly wallpapering one wall. It is an intense pattern, so we just went with one wall. Then we painted the walls the same color as the wallpaper background. Then, we just filled in with mostly white furniture and bold accents on the bed with pillows. It’s a bright room, and the lightness it has now is so cheery. My daughter’s favorite thing? Her desk! A $49 find at IKEA. It’s actually a bench, but we used it’s the perfect size for a 4 year old.
The explosion of colors makes the children really happier and more creative. The warm yellow and orange colors for the sleeping and relaxing zones in the living room are dominated because of the desire of the clients to live in the apartment only during the winter. There is some bal¬ance with the “cold” accent in blue. The white is the connection between all colors. The children room is for two kids with their own characteristics and wishes. There are a few colors zone – the pink for the girl zone, blue for the boy zone and white, orange and yellow for the common zone.
A shared toodler room/nursery. The theme we chose was Dr. Seuss. As soon as I saw this crib bedding and the matching toddler bedding I fell in love with it. I love the warm colors.
In anticipation of his baby sister’s moving into the nursery, we created a big-boy bedroom for my son. Some of the items moved with him from the nursery; others were thrifted; others were purchased new and one iconic feature, a reverse-stenciled dresser, was DIYed.
I needed to create a serene and calm space for the 2 girls. The house is decorated very traditional so I was going for decor that will blend in with the rest of the home. The room wasn’t too big either.
Not sure who is more excited about this room being finished, me or my daughter. Lots of DIY and re-working what I currently had made this entire new room happen for only $350! We’re both pretty please with how it turned out :)
This is Hooper’s big boy room! We wanted to created a space that worked for him as he transitioned out of a crib and into a big boy bed, but that would also be able to grow with him as he got older.
Almost 3, London was still sleeping in her baby nursery and in her crib with the front taken off. It was time for her to feel like a big girl! With potty training underway and a new baby brother, we wanted to give her a fun space that had TONS of DIY and had a very small budget to do it!
I was so excited when I found out I was pregnant! I couldn’t wait to start the Nursery. When we found out we were having a girl… I knew exactly what I wanted. Something she can grow into!
We live in a small, old home. Luckily my husband is in the construction business and he is extremely handy! We completely gutted the room! My husband put wood on walls and ceiling, made the trim, he did a wash paint finish on the walls, painted the ceiling, layed laminate wood flooring, built-ins in closet, and built-in shelf!!! I think he did an amazing job!! We LOVE this room!!
It’s incredible how easy it is to accumulate a mountain of toys over two years. These were my goals in creating a toddler room for my son:
Have only the age appropriate toys in the room (all baby toys went into storage)
Keep them off the floor
Have the toys easily accessible
Reese’s room is whimsical enough to be an adorable little girl’s room but grown-up enough to be able to grow with her. Every color in the rainbow is used so it’s bright, cheerful and fun.
This room is a compilation of everything our son loves – trains, trucks, planes, boats, and cars!
This room which used to be the guest bedroom in our house had to be transformed to a bedroom for my 2 year old son on a slim to none budget. I had just given birth to my daughter and needed to put her in my son’s crib and so decided to create this room. Limited time and resources made that this room was furnished and decorated within 2 weeks.
