Maverick’s Nursery

When my husband & I learned we were having a son, I knew I wanted to think outside the box of the ordinary pastel blue baby boy nursery. I wanted to put just as much effort into creating a special & memorable nursery for a son just as I would have a daughter. I had the mindset a boy’s nursery could be just as fun and vibrant as a baby girl’s nursery so with 20 weeks of morning sickness, I had much time to search for the perfect bedding on the internet. With the colors of lime green and turquoise already in mind- when I found the bedding at modpeapod.com, the nursery project took off from there.

Green & White Boy Nursery on a budget

I knew I didn’t want a blue room for my son because I am tired or stereotyping. And trust me, if I had a girl, it would still be green and white with pops of other colors, never pink & purple. We have very high ceilings (12′) but the room is rather small, so we went with white walls and used bright colors on accessories, such as curtains, floor mat, table, wall decals etc.

Nash’s Vintage Navy Nursery

I wanted to create a nursery that combined all of the elements I love with unique personal touches. I knew there would be my two favorite prints-chevron and greek key.  My statement piece was the huge 1878 reproduction map of Annapolis, MD, as well as the Naval Academy football programs from the 1920s-1970s.  From there I had a blast finding “vintage” items for storage and decor.

A Room With A View

Charlene and Chris began fixing up the nursery before their first son Matteo was born. They painted the walls a light shade of gray, refinished the original hardwood floors, and purchased the basic furniture as well as a glider and ottoman. They also brought in their old full-sized bed for Grandma who stays occasionally to help with the baby. But after their baby was born, the room remained half finished with no theme, bare walls, and baby stuff piled in the corners and on top of furniture. Eight months later I was brought on to reorganize and bring much-needed style to the room they first envisioned for their nursery.

Bright and Comfy Nursery on a Teeny Tiny Budget

Ok, so this nursery probably won’t be gracing the covers of any baby magazines, but I was really happy with how it turned out. I wanted to create a bright and cheerful, but gender neutral nursery for our third baby, and without spending a lot. I was motivated to post this to show that with some creativity and resourcefulness, you can create a nice looking, cohesive nursery without spending a fortune. My total cost – including furniture, bedding and decor – less that $250!!

Jasper’s Room

We live in a small, old home.  Luckily my husband is in the construction business and he is extremely handy!  We completely gutted the room!  My husband put wood on walls and ceiling,  made the trim, he did a wash paint finish on the walls, painted the ceiling, layed laminate wood flooring, built-ins in closet, and built-in shelf!!!  I think he did an amazing job!!  We LOVE this room!!
