Girly Nursery
To turn this into a little nursery was not easy..the room is tiny, NY style :) But I must say I love the way it turned out and it has been a fantastic little haven for my little boy, now 2!
We were so excited about having our first child that we couldn’t wait until we found out the gender to get to work. We knew that we wanted the walls to be a gender neutral colour and that we would add in personalized touches as we went. Our nursery is pretty tiny so we also wanted a space that would be functional yet not feel claustrophobic.
Since we only had one room to work with, I wanted neutral colors that would work for both 5 yrs old boy & a baby girl. I like bright colors, & to be honest I don’t like traditional boy/girl colors that you see often. I wanted something bright & fun for both genders. And I wanted to stay away from too baby-ish looking room…
Co. is my first born, so his room holds a special place for me. Although he is now three and getting ready to move into his big boy room. I thought I would share some pics of the original design before it gets modified for baby girl number two. The space is very small so my main design goal was to pack as much function and organization in while still keeping it bright and airy.
A little bit of our favorite things. Worked hard not to over crowd the room since it is so small.
A small modern nursery becomes a happy place for our firstborn baby girl.
Annabelle’s Nursery- A bright, airy, fun space in a space challenged room!
Creating a nursery in a NYC apartment can be a challenge, but with a little inspriation, a little sacrifice and an open mind, you can turn it into a really fun space.
A tiny space (150sq’) converted into a peaceful, cozy, comfortable baby room.
she’s three years old now and all she can see is PINK! so we gave in and created her pink room!
The room is very small 9′ by 9′.
If I were to Google “small baby nursery”, maybe a 10×12 room will show up. Homeowners, designers and parents will then describe how they struggled to make it work. Whatever. Sometimes new moms and dads just don’t have the space…like a room with a closet, a room with a window or a whole other room for that matter. I know from experience and this is why the baby closet from Small Space, Big Style is so very endearing.
