Colter’s Corner

This is our 1st baby! My husband and I had to relocate in the middle of our 3rd trimester and quickly realized that we were going to have to get creative with our nursery plans. We wound up with a terrific loft space that didn’t exactly accommodate the nursery space we were hoping for. Meaning 2 bedrooms rather than 3. We know we’re having a baby boy and refused to give up on our overall plans. So we rearranged some things, removed closet doors and hardware, did a lot of precise measuring, and ended up with a wonderful crib nook and better outcome than we could have hoped for. We wanted a cozy room with clean lines and less clutter while using a primary color palette.

Just Plane Cute!

When I discovered that I was pregnant with my 3rd child we had to reconfigure some of the bedrooms. Since we really wanted to keep our guest room, we decided that since our boys are so close in age they will eventually share a room. We knew we were going to be busy when our 3rd arrived so we decided to put their room together now and Jonah will join Luca in their room when he gets a little older. My husband is a pilot so the theme of this room came easy….airplanes! Then I just had to decide how to do it…..

Marcus’ Big Boy Bedroom

I wanted to create a room for Marcus that was very functional and stylish at the same time. I also wanted the room to be a continuation of the style and decor of our home. So I opted for neutral tones, with lots of brown, white, beige, creams and then pops of colors here and there. I knew that if I used a neutral color palette I would not having problems creating and sourcing decor items for the space.

The furniture is from IKEA. The bed is placed flushed with the dresser and a piece of stained maple wood lays on top to create a one-piece furniture that works really well for the space. We use the same stained maple wood at other places in the room to tie everything together. Having the bed against the wall makes the room more spacious and gives Marcus more areas for playing. I created the wall canvasses, wallpaper, and acrylic bike décor so all the colors would work together with the adorable bedding by dwell studio. The bike décor is Marcus favorite piece of the room. The bright red acrylic really stands out. I guess I could say that the bike is also my favorite piece in the room. I am very pleased with how it turned out. The room is bright, elegant, functional and fun.

Nash’s Toddler Room

We were about a month from our second son arriving when our 2.5 year old was growing quickly out of his crib.  So, having to prepare a nursery in addition to a toddler room, we needed to consider cost in addition to design.  It was also important to maintain some sort of “nursery” to his room; incorporating pieces that would keep the room still feeling like it was his (pieces like the black and white canvases that used to be above his crib). With a little creativity and a lot of build up to our toddler, we were able to come up with a successful and cost-efficient design we love!

Daniel’s Vintage Airplane Nursery

We were using this empty upstairs bedroom as a workout room and had done absolutely NOTHING with it since we bought our home 4 years ago. When we found out we were expecting our first child, we wanted to make it a very special space for our baby to grow into. My husband and I worked for 3 months measuring, sawing, painting, and planning and I think we did a great job for carpentry novices! The room is a very small 11×11 so we wanted to add a lot of storage space and make it bright and airy. The closet was fairly deep, but not very big overall. When we took the doors off to paint, we found that it really opened the room up, so we decided to leave the doors off and design a built in wardrobe in the space instead. Additionally, we added panel style wainscoting and a built in storage bench on a wall that wasn’t very usable. When we found out we were having a little boy, we decided on a vintage airplane theme and classic colors. We absolutely adore this room and hope you do too!

Twists on a Classic

A classic nursery with attention to unique details combines to create a crisp room fit for a sweet baby boy. The paper airplane wall decal zips across the room to create a sense of whimsy. The white furniture sharply contrasts with the deep hues of the hardwood floors creating a crisp clean feeling. The funky sillhouettes take a playful approach to the family heritage and it’s all tied together with a mint green rug with white polka dots. http://www.maxbentleychronicles.blogspot.com/
