I had the pleasure of attending a fabulous shower for our dearest friend Carla last weekend. While I didn't get the throw the shower (the details were left to Gloria who did an amazing job by the way), it got PN thinking of all the ways the baby shower hostesses can shower mommy months and years beyond the shower! Does that make sense? Let me clarify... Today's mission is to inspire you to think about utilizing decorations that the new mom will want to incorporate into baby's nursery AFTER the party's over. Subtle details like providing framed mementos and packaging that can double as storage are lovely and functional additions to baby's room. Here are some suggestions from your friends at Project Nursery: 1. Ditch the Diaper Cake and go for the "Lollipop Washcloths" as a useful table topper. After all, a new parent's checklist recommends 12 wash clothes when bringing home baby. 2. Suggest a storage theme and ask guests to "wrap" their gifts in storage bins. Don't worry if the baskets don't match! We guarantee they will be used throughout the entire home to store and tuck away all things baby. 3. Mom will need an extra diaper caddy especially if the home is two stories. Why not use one to carry pencils, pads and party games such as bingo cards in the interim. 4. Rather than spend money on a "Baby Shower Guestbook" (when only the first two pages are ever filled), purchase a stylish photo album …

Mom Jennifer deserves a big congratulations for winning the Creative Baby Nursery Rooms' Nursery Picture Contest!  Jennifer created a charming, modern, nature-inspired nursery for her new little bundle of joy Brooklyn. Ourselves along with Dawn of Nursery Murals & More had the pleasure of judging. You can get all the juicy details of the room here. But we at Project Nursery want to take a moment to focus on the personalized touches like this little handcrafted bee hovering over the painted flowers which adds a lovely touch of whimsy! "I had found a picture of a nursery that had used wall stickers to create a mural of modern flowers on a wall. I projected the image onto the nursery wall and painted the flowers using the colors from the canvas. I painted 25 flowers (some above 5 feet tall!) I used a level, blue tape, and 2 days to get the stems flawless!" - Jennifer We also adore the fact that the rooms inspiration comes from Amenity Home's Nursery Collection. Isn't it ironic that Project Nursery happens to be giving away one of their Nursery Collection Blankets this week! Now you really must enter for your own award winning nursery! All the best to Jennifer, Daddy and Baby Brooklyn. Enjoy your fabulous prize from Pink Taffy Designs.

One of my favorite rainy day activities is to look at old photos of my parents and grandparents. Studying the clothes and hairstyles would transport me back in time. Want to bring that feeling and love of vintage to your tots nursery or bedroom? Petrie Point Designs, LLC is a collection of one-of-a-kind, rare vintage clothing from the 1920s to the 1960s which are "repurposed" and turned into modern works of art. With the nursery in mind and inspired by her childhood summers on Long Island’s North Fork, founder Susan Petrie-Badertscher recently launched Petrie Pint Designs. These framed pieces of vintage infant/children’s clothing and collectibles are a darling addition to the nursery. Both collections blend classic pieces with a modern, whimsical aesthetic, bringing the company’s tag line, “Memories Made Modern,” to life. Susan says, "Petrie Point designs truly makes what is old new again. Ideal for the nursery/child’s room, a baby shower gift, or just to satisfy your youthful yearning, PPD now has limited edition pint-size designs featuring vintage one-of-a-kind infant and children’s clothing and framed collectibles. From European handmade dresses and playful cowboy-print rompers to worn toys, the pint-size collection will add a touch of whimsy and charm to any interior."   For a limited time Petrie Point Designs is offering Project Nursery readers a 10% discount on their Pint collection. When ordering call (917) 721-8183 or email them at contact@petriepointdesigns and mention code "Nursery" to receive the discount. Don't wait, this offer only lasts for two weeks!

If all went according to plan, new Mom Jiye gave birth to a baby girl this past weekend! We are so delighted that she took time to answer some of our questions just prior to the big day. Jiye's modern style, softened by sweet silhouettes and warm beige makes for a super stylish nursery and beyond! 1. What was your inspiration for the room? I was first inspired by the rooms I saw on high end nursery furniture bedding websites such as Dwell Studio and Oeuf. I was quickly discouraged when I found that many of those items were out of my price range. Later, I was so excited and inspired by the real nurseries I saw on blogs like Project Nursery and Ohdeedoh. The real nurseries helped me to see that I could achieve a modern look without having to spend an outrageous amount of money. I also loved seeing how real people mixed and matched different elements instead of getting one matchy-matchy set for every aspect of their room. 2. What best describes your decorating style? My decorating style is contemporary but with a touch of whimsy and fun! For the nursery, I wanted a modern approach to go with the rest of our home but I didn't want it to feel cold or sterile. I also didn't want anything to look too "baby-ish" because I wanted her to be able to use the things in the room for a long time. 3. Share with us choice of colors, diy tips, etc. …

Attention new moms! We have a product for you. I know that sounds cliche however, if the Toy Wrangler can save you from reaching under a restaurant table for the umpteenth time to pick up bottles and pacifiers from a dirty floor, then we have done you a service. Mom, Kristy Stafford grew so tired of playing pick-up in the restaturant, while shoppping or even out for walks, that she came up with the Toywrangler and the Mini Toywrangler. "I could attach and interchange my son's toys, bottles and pacifier without even reaching to the floor. I was excited to go out to eat and see that the ToyWranglerTMactually solved our problem. We wanted a product that was #1 Safe, #2 Easy for the child to retrieve toys, pacis, bottles/cups by themselves and #3 A product that was machine washable." Project Nursery really appreciates creative moms like Kristy for taking action and inventing a product to solve a parent's daily dilemma. If you're like me, you have thought to yourself, "I am going to complete my baby books and organize family photos in an effort to become more organized in 2009!" And if your really like me, it's Febuary and you haven't even started. When my computer crashed the other week, it took all of the photos I neglected to back up over the past year and a half. Typing on an old, irritatingly slow computer while it's being fixed is a small sacrific as long as it means I get all the cherished photos back of my son. That's all I can think about these days. Digital scrapbooking is calling my name and I want to share it again with you. I mean, "Is my computer drama a swift kick in the pants to say, come on already and scrapebook or what?" Last year, we introduced you to Cathy Bennett's genius company How Fast They Grow. As an experienced parent, I can now say, "YES! They grow so fast so get on this!!!" How Fast They Grow is currently offering Project Nursery Readers Free Ground Shipping on orders over $20 through March 1st. Use Code "PNFREE". Also, If you haven't visited How Fast They Grow in a while, it's gotten even better with sweet template designs from our favorite party girl, Hostess with the Mostess and more. Now go on and be prepared to scrapbook some lovely V-day moments and then some.

Seamus has received excellent reviews and is available for pre-order at Amazon. Here’s how to win "Seamus McNamus" signed by author Rob Kurtz: 1. As a proud blogger I love an opportunity to talk about Project Nursery especially when it organically fits into the conversation and turns into helpful advice and not just a shameless plug. The perfect opportunity arose this past weekend when I was introduced to dad-to-be Andy by a friend of mine. Andy is a first time Dad and we all got to talking about what stroller he should buy. I have to admit, I was a little out of the loop on the latest and greatest cool stroller out there considering my 05' Aubergine Bugaboo Frog is now a vintage classic. Don't get me wrong, I was obsessed with the stroller decision just as much as the next city dweller and spent hours trying to decide if I could actually justify spending $800 bucks on a baby stroller. For the record totally worth every penny! Now, there are so many more options for the modern stroller. I thought this would be a perfect time to take inventory and look at a few of the latest and greatest of the bunch. And, lastly, before I go on I have to admit that the current love in my stroller life is my ultra light weight, no frills Maclaren. Once I left the Big Apple portability and speed took over and all coolness went out the window... The Orbit Baby Infant System stroller has been gaining attention for its cool rotating seat feature. That would have come in handy when out to eat …
