One of the reasons I am most excited to re-design my kids room is so I can finally get the opportunity to use wall decals. We've sang the praises of wall decals many times but it seems they are everywhere these days and the selection is endless. What makes wall stickers so attractive is the fact that they are an instant and affordable way to add a personal touch to the nursery or any kids room. One of our new favorite spots to shop for decals is at Wee Monograms. They offer over 200 designs for the nursery or kids room. I just found out they are rolling out new designs next week which I'm so excited to check out. From whimsical, sporty, classic and modern, there are a ton of styles to choose from. I personally have my eye on one of the classic styles for my new little baby girl set to arrive this Spring.  And, Wee Monograms can now create any custom design you can dream up with sizes up to 22 inches. Just send them your own art or use one of their images to create a totally personalized decal. Win It!  Wee Monograms is giving away one custom monogram of your choice. Visit Wee Monograms to find your favorite and tell  us. Contest ends Friday, January 29nd, 2009 at 11:59pm PST. EXTRA ENTRIES 1. Become a fan of Project Nursery on Facebook  and comment. 2. Crocheted-Flowers-Closeup

One of our very crafty readers, Sara, sent us this adorable crocheted flower garland DIY project which she has featured on her blog. She has shard a past DIY project with us and we decided our readers might like to give it a try this one too. I think its been 15 years since I last saw a crochet hook but I'm sure its just like riding a bike. I did take a knitting class when pregnant with my first and had so much fun creating something for my little baby to be. Here are all the details on the floating flower garlands: Isn't this just the cutest? This is my ode to the almond blossoms that will bloom in another two weeks or so in my part of the world, coinciding with the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shevat. I just love fruit trees in bloom, and these crocheted flowers are so different and yet so similar to the real thing. This would be just adorable in a baby's room, in fact it would be adorable just about anywhere except in my dining room where it is currently hanging (it actually looks cute there too, just not exactly suited to the decor!) Do remind me to make a version that goes with earthy greens and golds and Moroccan style would you? I would love to do it! In any case, if you don't know how to crochet I highly suggest that you learn, because you can make the small flowers in …

rocker

The big debate…chair or no chair?? I fought with myself for weeks trying to decide whether or not to get a “glider/rocker” for the arrival of my 2nd baby. I did not splurge with the first child so my rationale was there was no need this time around. I started to think how nice it would be to have a comfy chair post c-section to cuddle with my new bundle of joy. The decision…after an endless search and a waited-too-long-to-order-gilder extravaganza, I finally came to the conclusion that I needed one. I searched all my local baby boutiques and super stores but because of my delayed decision, the glider/rocker/recliner that I had been eyeing up would not arrive until 12 weeks after baby Blake’s arrival. So I had to move on to “plan B”. The find…not only was 12 weeks to long to wait but the $1000.00 price tag was a little over my already extended baby budget. After an extensive Internet search I came across the same glider/rocker/recliner that I found in my earlier search for less that $600.00!! The details…walmart.com carries Little Castle upholstered nursery gliders in various styles. My chair shipped to the store for FREE, and arrived in less than 2 weeks!! There are plenty of chair styles to choose from and the only drawback is that your choice of colors / fabrics are limited. I ended up getting a chair that was upholstered in a perfect beige, wide whale plush chenille and absolutely LOVE it! …

It was a sad day for Melisa and I when we learned Domino Magazine was closing up shop earlier this year. We looked to the design mag for its wonderful display of accessible products, design inspiration, do-it-yourself projects with always a little whimsy thrown in. That's what made the monthly publication so fun. No need to be so glum anymore. If you haven't heard there is a new bi-monthly online interior design resource called Lonny (name's a combo of London and New York) which was launched by a former Domino-er and a freelance photographer. The first issue went live in October and the second issue was just released last week. Lonny is visually as beautiful as a glossy magazine and still grants the reader "flipping" pleasure but adds the digital advantage of being able to click on features for instant information. We can respect and are familiar with their marketing style, totally organic. They have heavily relied on the blogging community to spread the word.  Our only hope is that they start to integrate nursery and children's design into the magazine. So, Lonny, if you are listening, please tempt us with some inspiring nurseries and playrooms . We'd love to see what you dream up!
