Just when I'm feeling like a really bad mommy, one of my beautiful children does something so funny and endearing my harsh mommy dearest meets Godzilla exterior melts away and a true smile spreads across my face. Now that I'm just two weeks into life with three kids, finding humor in everyday life has never been more crucial. When a little book titled "Didn't I feed You Yesterday? A Mother's Guide To Sanity In Stilettos" arrived in my mailbox I was very intrigued. This seemed right up my alley. I immediately cozied up on the coach and began to read it. The book was funny, hilarious actually, I couldn't put it down. It's written by Laura Bennett, the standout designer and mother of Six, yes SIX, kids from Season 3 of Project Runway! Laura's outrageous and candid take on modern motherhood in Manhattan was well worth the cashing in of precious daytime minutes without the chick-a-dees around. I'm not going to spoil the book for all of you but trust me it's a fun, light read filled with unconventional advise that will have you laughing and feeling really good that you aren't the only mother out there wondering how life got so darn crazy. "Didn't I Feed You Yesterday?" is available  online and in stores as of this week. Melisa and I were really excited to learn that Laura is a fan and follower of Project Nursery. We exchanged emails and she answered some specific questions with her take on …

I think I am in love with a new blanket. We've polled readers about their favorite blankets in the past and for some reason it's still a topic that make us moms a little giddy. Probably because the right blanket for your child could very well become not only his most favored possession but provide you with lasting memories of when they were young.  The other week we were sent a sample of the lovely My Blankee and we believe it is something our fans would want to sample for themselves! Keep on reading to learn how you can win one for you and a friend... Sure, a slew of celebrity babies are seen clutching onto their own My Blankee but that's not the only reason to promote it here.

Good Morning! Today I am sharing a beautiful nursery with you, courtesy of Andrea of  The TomKat Studio. Before I hired Andrea, I poured over her blog, Baby Steps to Mom, learning about her and her sweet little family. I fell in love with the soft and serene space she created for her baby girl, Linnea. In Andrea words: When I found out I was having a girl, I suddenly became the Pink Mom. I wanted everything in pink, pink, PINK! With Linnea's nursery, I wanted to go with a soft, pale pink- nothing too bright for her room. We originally wanted to paint the walls pale pink, but decided at the last minute to leave them the neutral shade that came with the house in case we decided to change things up in the future. My overall vision for the room was Vintage Bird, and I scouted shops like anthropologie, Goodwill, Savers, Ikea, and HomeGoods for fun finds on a budget. The main colors we chose were pink, black, and ivory, with natural wood furniture. My favorite thing about Linnea's room is that it is full of handmade items (either by me or a loved one), refurbished goods and keepsakes that were given to us by family. My husband sanded, repainted and antiqued my childhood dresser ivory and surprised me with an adorable bird drawer pull from anthropologie, and we found an ugly night stand at Savers for $8, refinished it black and put a pale pink drawer pull (also …

Hop to It

We are just a few days away from Easter weekend and I thought what could be a better inspiration for a nursery than the Easter bunny?  They are cute, cuddly, and are a wonderful theme for a gender neutral nursery. image via Soda Head Now when putting this room together I was picturing a family who wanted a welcoming, gender neutral and traditional nursery.  The whites, greens, blues and pinks used in the furniture, bedding & accessories are a pastel palette which creates a calming environment. The bedding was the first item selected in this design.  It is made by Maddie Boo Bedding and since the sets are custom made-to-order you can adjust skirt lengths and fabrics as you please.  I just adore this timeless bunny fabric. The distressed wooden furniture is from one of my favorite furniture lines Newport Cottages.  The timeless pieces transition well into an older child's room and the distressed finish will hide the normal wear and tear that children ultimately create on furniture.  The rest of the accessories have some sort of bunny theme to them or match the colors found in the crib bedding. This is definitely a cutesy baby nursery, not modern, not bold, not glamourous, just traditional and childish. The sources for the images are as follows: 1. Greer Crib Set by Maddie Boo Bedding. The polka dot crib sheet adds a playful touch to the traditional set. 2. Cottontail fabric available from Maddie Boo Bedding. Scenes of rabbits swinging, dancing and walking in …

easter kids ideas (PN)

Can you believe that Easter is this weekend already?!  March has flown by....before we know it, the birds will be chirping, and we'll be heading outdoors!  If you are like me, and your city isn't quite feeling like Spring yet (um, it snowed here last week!), here are some great Easter craft ideas to do with your kids indoors! Egg Flower Centerpiece: this is a darling craft project that can serve as the centerpiece for your kids table at Easter brunch!  Made out of craft foam and toilet paper rolls, you can coordinate the colors of the flowers to your tablesetting! Sock Bunnies: these are too cute for words!  They would be a darling addition to your kid's Easter baskets, or a party favor for all of your little guests! Bunny Bags: if you are hosting an Easter party or egg hunt for kids, these bags would be the PERFECT party favor bag!  So simple - just embellish some white lunch bags with some scrapbook paper! Candy Baskets: if you want to switch things up and craft a unique Easter basket this year, take a cue from Parents Magazine and embellish small gift bags with candy!

Transitioning your tot from a crib to a bed is like a throw back to the newborn phase: sleepless nights and lots of worry. If I could have kept my son held captive in his crib for a few extra years I would have. But since there's no getting around it, we suggest doing what you can to ease the transition and consider a toddler bed from our friends at P'kolino! If your on the prowl for playful, contemporary kids furniture that won't break the bank, P'kolino is just that and more. Like most P'kolino products, their toddler bed is also multi-functional. It's stylish, modern design translates to guardrails included. Swap out your crib mattress for their soft pad and it easily converts into a chair for continued use throughout the years. P'kolino also offers three styles of organic toddler bedding to compliment your P'kolino bed. Our favorite design? The Monkeys and Owls that say good morning and good night in nine different languages! No wonder why P'kolino's tag line is "Playfully Smart". Project Nursery's recent venture with OpenSky allows us the opportunity to work with vendors directly. The other week we asked P'kolino to provide our readers with the very BEST deal found on the web exclusive to Project Nursery readers. So at the risk of sounding like a used car salesman...boy, do we have a deal for you! The P'kolino Toddler Bed & Chair retails for $193 and their Organic Bedding Set for $119. We've gone ahead and packaged the …
