Babies R Us Presentation

I just wanted to share some fun photos from the Design With Style Event held at Babies”R”Us last weekend. Our sponsor NoJo did an amazing job putting it all together. I spent the afternoon at the Babies”R”Us Tustin, CA location with Tracie Schor of NoJo and we had a blast sharing creative design ideas with expecting parents and grandparents! Attendees listened to a design seminar presented by Project Nursery and best of all, enjoyed free, personalized design advice. We hope this event continues and that Pam and I have the chance to get out there and meet our readers in person. A big thanks to all who attended!

gender neutral baby nurseries

This week, we are so excited to share one of our new nursery designs! We completed this gender neutral nursery for a client in Southern California and couldn’t wait to share with the Project Nursery community. For this nursery design, we tackled what seems to be one of the toughest things to do: to create a nursery that either a boy or girl could love. Throughout the process of designing this nursery (which took about 3 1/2 months from starting the nursery design to finishing the installation), we worked with the expecting Mom on finding items that would make her gender neutral nursery into a chic room that would truly be unisex…

Cupcake Stand

I knew at the age of five that cupcakes were nothing short of amazing. Now why couldn't I have put that knowledge to work and capitalized on the cupcake craze that has taken over the nation? Magnolia Bakery in NYC's village was one of the first on the scene then came Billy's Bakery followed by Sprinkles in LA and Cupcake Royale in Seattle. East Coast to West Coast and everywhere in between its cupcakes gone wild! So, of course its now time to show proper worship to these delicate cakes with the right decor. My current favorite is The Cupcake Tower. It is the absolute perfect accessory to the cupcake and every party throwing parent is sure to use The Cupcake Tower over and over. In fact, I pulled mine out last week at my kids impromptu lemonade/cupcake stand in front of the house. We, I mean they, pulled in $60! Must have been that Cupcake Tower..... In all seriousness, cupcakes are a must at kid's parties and The Cupcake Tower is an easy and fabulous way to display these mini cakes. You choose the size and shape of the tower. The small holds 32 cupcakes and the extra large holds up to 208 cupcakes. Now that's a party! It also has a ribbon detail - which can be removed and replaced with different colors and patterns to match the color palette of the celebration. The laminate coating makes it simple to clean and the best part is that the tower folds …

monkey invitation

Play group birthday parties seem to be all the rage lately!  Whether weekly or monthly, you spend a lot of time with both the moms and kids - so it's no wonder you would want to celebrate your child's milestone birthdays with them! I recently helped create a fresh, modern playgroup party with a monkey theme.  The mom wanted to keep it simple, didn't want to go overboard - yet wanted something that made a statement.  Since the party was being held during their normal play group time at a local gym, we had a small space to work with. I created one table (in close proximity of where the kids were playing - easy access for the moms to enjoy treats!) that held everything from drinks, to sweets to party favors..... Pretty cute, right?!  I focused on a few key decorations and carried the monkey theme and image throughout the party to give it a cohesive feel.  A yellow seersucker fabric backdrop covered up the (not so pretty) gym walls.   A banner hung over the table, which pulled together our color palette, and brought in a polka dots and a check pattern to add a touch of whimsy.  The centerpieces were really cute and very kid-friendly!  I used paper lanterns as the "vase" and inserted a charming centerpiece stick - monkey on the front, polka dots on the back!  Totally inexpensive and easy to do!  I propped them up on a white, square cake plate ($10 at Home …

solielart

Just a quick note this week to let you all know how excited I am about our new collection of children's artwork. I had so much fun designing this collection for OopsyDaisy. There are over 20 exciting new wall art prints to choose from. As a huge fan of children's artwork, you'll see how I love to mix and match patterns... And of course this new line of wall art coordinates perfectly with our new line of bedding and even the new paint collection arriving fall 2010! Remember, don't be afraid to mix and match with your nursery decor!

Circus Party

As hectic as life gets there are things that remind you to slow down and appreciate the moment. Did anyone catch the season finale of The Bachelorette when a much needed rainbow shot through the sky, bringing a sense of peace and a message of "it's going to be okay?" Whether it's a glimmer of ROYGBV shining through a spray of the garden hose  or a mighty arch smiling upon an urban highway, rainbows find a way to bring awe to all eyes of those who behold it. This week let's take a look at Rainbow themed parties. The first is Kate's Lollipop Party shared by PN Contributor Kim from The TomKat Studio. Rainbows never looked so delicious! What's the fun in having one color of hair when you can have every color? Party guests at this Circus Birthday Party took home souvenir photos of themselves in playful rainbow wigs. Remember there are only 6 simple rules to a rainbow party: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet! Using a fun color mix of utensils, party poms, frosting, and favors, your colorful party can be as beautiful as Avery's 4th Birthday. As always, remember that more details and pictures are available for each party by visiting it in our Real Gallery!
