Noon Year’s Eve Party for Littles

We’re saying goodbye to 2016 with our Noon Year’s Eve party!
Sometimes it’s hard for little ones to make it to midnight on New Year’s Eve (and let’s be honest, sometimes it’s hard for us parents too!) so what better way to include the kids in celebrating the new year than with a Noon Year’s Eve party! Invite little friends over with these bright and colorful invitations from Tiny Prints. The happy colors set the tone for the party and will get the kids excited to see what’s in store for the celebration! The party started at 10:30 AM and that was plenty of time for snacks, games and of course, the big countdown to the noon year!
The kids munched on fruits and veggies, cheese and crackers and felt SO fancy sipping sparkling grape juice from pretty glasses. As the countdown to the noon year approached, the kids popped festive poppers with confetti galore and enjoyed fun ring pop favors that had little tags saying “Ring in the Noon Year!”.

Vintage Ghostbusters Party

When the new The Ghostbusters movie came out my son got really excited and said he wanted a Ghostbusters party this year. I thought yeah that will be a fun theme to do! Little did I know that there really isn’t much in the way of party décor for The Ghostbusters so I did several DIY projects and just kinda winged it! My one goal was to try and do the entire party without any lime green slime! After looking on Etsy, Amazon and Ebay I finally scored the Ghostbusters dolls on Ebay for a small fortune… Keeping that little detail from the husband, I really wanted to used ghost traps and found a couple of places on Etsy that had paper versions but I wanted something that could be used as centerpieces. After a couple of weeks looking online and really thinking it though I just decided to try and make my own. I purchased wooden wine boxes on PaperMart.com turned them upside down and painted them. I went to a local hardware store and bought anything I thought looked like it could belong on a ghost trap. They all turned out differently since I used random things! I didn’t get any ghost balloons ordered in time so I just drew ghost faces on plain white balloons. I wanted it to look like the ghosts where being sucked into the ghost trap! For the chalkboard I borrowed a friends handheld projector and just traced it on. Had to have my sister in law come over and use her teacher handwriting since mine looked like a 3rd grader did it! After debating on the kids activity/favor I ordered marshmallow shooters off of Amazon. Not my brightest idea, they stuck to the floor and where a pain to get off! But both the kids and some of the adult “kids” had a BLAST!!

My little Knight’s 5th Birthday Party

My little guy wanted to be a prince on his 5th birthday so I was excited to create “royalish” birthday for him. Besides, why should only girls have royal/princessy birthdays?!?! ;)  To make activities and theme appropriate to what he is into lately (superheros, fights, star wars etc.), I decided on “Knights and Dragons” theme.
Due to his several food allergies, I also have to make all of the desserts. And no one has more fun baking vegan desserts that contains black beans, prunes, and apple sauce as milk/egg replacements, than I do. :)
And I created most of everything myself, including Knights’ tunics. The birthday boy called himself “King of all Knights” and had  a blast with his fellow Knights!

A Shared Bedroom for Seven Grandkids

Oh, the task was daunting. It was nearly impossible. How-to-design a shared bedroom for seven kids. As challenging as this may sound, we had to make it work. The grandparents wanted to transform a spare bedroom into a sleepover delight for their seven grandchildren. The kids’ age ranged from three-years-old to eleven-years-old, and we were dealing with boys and girls. We used neutral décor, personal touches, and maximized its functionality in order to design a room for seven kids.
Choose the right furniture
Forget about the bunk beds. To avoid making this space look super crowded with heavy and dark bunk beds, we chose versatile white beds with trundles. Their clean lines complement any style, while the beds’ compact proportions make it easier to arrange them in the space. The beds worked really well placed against each other as well as against the wall. And the rollout bottom trundles allow lots of room for a play area when they are not in use.
Pick timeless décor
We worked with lots of different patterns and textures to create a gender-neutral bedroom. Mixing stripes in bold colors with geometric patterns give this room an eclectic and fun look. We’ve placed richly-hued pillows in different sizes and shapes for an added detail. Large and graphic fruit prints along with geometric boomerang wall decals bring a lot of color and interest to the walls. Finally, two sculptural lamps make a statement around the beds.
Create storage space
We placed some strong and sturdy storage bins under one of the beds to store daily items. We also added a graphic printed basket for additional storage while four wall hooks can keep coats and bags organized. The best of all storage areas in this shared bedroom is the bold-colored green locker. This locker is such a statement piece in this room. The kids love the locker, it really sets the tone for this sleepover room.
Make it personal
In order to make this room feel personal, we created a gallery-wall with all seven kids’ pictures. All seven photographs were framed in a modern white frame. The simplicity of this frame made it a breeze to create a gallery-wall.
We love how the room turned out and the kids love it so much.

Oh the Places You’ll Go Playroom

A one-of-a-kind playroom that inspires creativity where kids can play, read and imagine. I love that every corner of this space has something unexpected and genuinely unique for these two adorable siblings.
My goal was to mix high style with pure fun and the results of this room are definitely stylish with loads of pure fun from the full size telephone booth to the custom book chandelier!

Preppy Barnyard Bash Birthday

For my little boy’s second birthday, I was inspired by the things Oliver loves – animals and the great outdoors.  I chose a Barnyard theme and had the party outdoors at a local barn.  That big red barn was the perfect setting for Oliver’s big day, and it turned out even better than I envisioned.  I chose a sweet, boyish color scheme of blue and green, and I focused on some of his favorite barnyard animals.  I wanted to add in some preppy touches to the party, and I did that simply by choosing some blue gingham accents.  When throwing a party, I like to mix and match inexpensive elements along with more custom designs.  For example, on the dessert table, I usually splurge on one or two custom desserts and then pick up budget friendly desserts at a local grocery store or make my own.  For Oliver’s party, I added red gingham accents to the donuts and they turned out so cute!  Some of my favorite party elements were the barnyard animal macarons, the monogrammed birthday outfit, the fondant animals atop the cake, and the beautiful hydrangea centerpiece. Party guests loved the animal cookies and the little lamb cake pops. It was such a sweet day. Oliver had the best time being the center of attention and eating lots of cake, and my Momma heart was so full seeing how happy he was.
