Mint

This is our first nursery that I created. I had a vision in mind of his nursery being a place of calmness. I knew that when baby boy entered this world, it was going to be a long and wild ride — especially in the first few months of his life with very little sleep — therefore, I wanted a place in the house that we could go to, to relax, where I found a peaceful setting to nurse Noah, and bring fond memories to come. I am so pleased with the outcome of this nursery, and it is so loved already!

First and foremost, thank you to my wonderful mother and Aunt for bringing my vision to life! Since my son’s nursery was modern safari, we decided do the same with my baby shower theme – hello, GOLDEN SAFARI! We used the wall pictures bought for his nursery as the shower decor, which saved $ and the decor and it was multi-functional!

We searched Amazon and found plastic toy safari animals in various sizes that we then spray painted in a bronze color. Also on Amazon were giant faux palm leaves that we used on the tables, around centerpieces, as well as hung throughout the event space. What better centerpiece than a real pineapple?! It was a perfect idea because the pineapples made for the most affordable centerpieces and guests were able to take home and eat! We kept the cupcakes a simple vanilla with a white Italian buttercream and topped with an animal cracker. We displayed Ferrero Rocher chocolates with pineapple crowns on an elegant porcelain tiered dessert stand. I loved the modern black & white striped table runners! They truly complimented the gold table accents and tropical faux foliage. I remember the moment I stepped foot into my shower – my eyes were the size of saucers. I was in awe. It was everything I imagined of and more. Wish all you expecting mamas that same magical feeling at your shower!

I was inspired by Lily Pulitzer’s mermaid cove print while creating a nursery for baby girl #2! I love the bright splashes of blues and pinks and even the touch of lime green. This room theme will be perfect when transitioning to toddler/preschools years.

This is not your typical rainbow wall mural! It’s a reinvented rainbow! I have been working on a rainbow themed room for my client’s 2 year old toddler girl. We started with a blank space. From the beginning, we knew we were going to do an accent wall. When we first started, my client wanted to add decals to the wall. Simple, and easy, but not very impactful. Plus, her daughter would grow out of it after a few years. After many discussions, I somehow convinced her to go a bit bolder (or maybe she decided on her own?!). The reinvented rainbow it the focal of the room but there are so many other elements to the room that she can grow into 
I upcycled an old Ikea table and chairs from her older siblings. I painted scallops in the same rainbow palette. The made a craft corner that houses her art supplies and her artwork too.
I also painted an ombré watermelon dresser which is another Ikea hack. It was a plain white dresser but with the knobs it adds a whimsical touch!
A reading nook and shelves are also essential to help kids develop a love for reading.

We were converting the room from our soon to be two year old son’s into a new baby girl’s nursery! We didn’t want to paint and this wallpaper was the perfect match for the color on the other three walls. We added a few other accents like the pink rug, mint pillow and Llama stuffed animal to tie into the wallpaper.

I chose this project because this was the most adorable little boy who recently transferred into a big boy bed and didn’t have the proper space!  He also didn’t have a reading nook, despite loving books. I chose green as the main color because it is a soothing bedroom color and promotes calmness and serenity. The rest of the decor is light colored to complement the soothing aspect.
tips: don’t mix too many colors in a bedroom. Less is more. Also, make sure not to over clutter a room with too many items.

It’s no secret that it’s been a tough year for children. I wanted to do something at home for Lennons birthday to honor his heritage. Ever since he was a baby, we’ve been reading a page of Vashti Harrison’s “Little Legends, Exceptional Men in Black History” to him every night. Every night we focus on one individual and their accomplishments. As he’s getting older, he’s starting to look forward to this. When I had the idea to make this book a birthday theme for him. Images are powerful and shape our identity. I wanted him to feel represented in a beautiful light.
The cover of the book was my inspiration. I worked with moon rising, an incredible designer that helped me recreate Lennon in the same style as the characters in the book. He was now front and center as he is an exceptional black boy, soon to be man. Each child had a bookmark with a different character from the book and their names on the back. We had library cards made so that they can continue with the rest of the book series reading about exceptional people in history. I kept the color scheme the same as the cover of the book, focusing on black white mint and yellow stars. Working with Pavan Floral is always a pleasure. The florals she creates are stunning. They always fit perfectly with my aesthetic. Janice Wong with the desert never disappoints. We had a beautiful cake where she hand painted the characters. The cookies featured the faces of the characters in the book and the cake pops had a printed image of the cover.
The star of the show was the incredible backdrop provided by Modest Peach. They recreated the cover and had each character life size standing on podiums. I want Lennon to always remember this day. How special he is. How exceptional he is and to shoot for the stars.
A bbq lunch catered by the incredible Sarah of Active Palate was the perfect meal. The children had Mac and cheese cups and fried chicken sliders, while the adults had bbq and a beautiful grazing table put together by cheese pretty please. A yummy green juice for the kids  and sangria for adults by Nate Parker really complimented the meal. The incredible Kara Coleen shot this day for us. She helped us capture the magic of a day we’ll always remember.

I was inspired by Anewall Bombora wallpaper mural. Living in San Diego, I thought it would be fun to create an ocean/beach-themed nursery. When we first installed the wallpaper, we didn’t know our baby’s gender yet. Once we found out we were having a girl, I decided it would be fun to add blush accents to the room.
