Dreamy Floral and Coral Nursery

The day my husband and I found out that we were going to welcome a little girl into our world, I felt like I was in a beautiful dream! We purchased a home in preparation for our growing family and made the nursery our first focal point.  The room for the nursery was chosen for it’s spaciousness and natural light. I wanted to create a dreamy and peaceful space to emulate the emotion I felt on the day I was told she would be a she. Thus we filled the room with a delightful amount of girly pretties including florals, coral hues, and gold accents. The floral mobile (which is handmade by my talented aunt and a family friend) was gifted to us and became the inspiration for everything else. With the help of my parents, we created the oasis we wanted for our little angel. It was a true labor of love and worth every second. My parents even reupholstered my childhood rocking chair to match our color scheme! Now our little girl has arrived bringing us so much joy, and we hope her nursery brings her sweet dreams every day! Beth Adilly so remarkably captured the love that this room and our baby girl bring us each day.  Our dreams have come true. Just pinch me!

Modern Where The Wild Things Are Birthday Party

My youngest was turning four and I thought, this is it if I want one more party that I get to choose the theme I had better go for it! I really loved the wild things theme but everything I was seeing was staying true to the book colors. There were some great parties that had already been done and I didn’t want it to look like something everyone had already seen so I dreamed up a modern version! I contacted a local artist to do a custom piece, and really loved the way it turned out! The party activity was painting a sail boat just like the one Max sailed in the book. The birthday boy had a great time and was on a sugar high for two days!

Our Little “Peach” is Turning ONE!

My darling girlfriends threw me the sweetest baby shower a little over a year ago to celebrate the upcoming birth of our daughter.  They incorporated the cutest hanging tissue peach/coral POMS and I didn’t have the heart to toss them. So I decided to proudly re-purpose them which triggered the Peach themed FIRST birthday party for our sweet little Rylee.
We decided to have the celebration at a local park to minimize clean-up duty at home.  Despite the boiling Arizona summer temps, we pushed on forward with lots of peach inspired goodness.  As Charles Eames said, “The details are not the details. They make the design.”  So was true for this little’s celebration…everything from peach refreshments, peach beer, peach appetizers, and last but certainly not least…her daddy’s famous peach wood pulled pork.  And while all of these fun details made the party a success, the snow cone machine was the biggest hit of all.
We couldn’t send our little guests home empty-handed so we made up cute Target pail goodies filled with peach suckers and peach flavored jelly beans.  The tag was inspired from Rylee’s party invitations.
It was so great to be able to recycle a lot of what we had around the home or from previous parties to make this first birthday celebration a special one.  And hosting the party at the park sure made coming home to a clean house so much more worth it.  One last bit of advice…invite your favorite photographer to the party to capture all the special moments – you won’t regret it.  Time to start planning birthday #2 LOL ;)

Nursery Perfection for a Princess!

Whats better than a decorative throw pillow to style a crib? Um, I know – a throw pillow in the shape of a cloud…and a tear…and chevron sheets! Adorning 2016’s trendiest colour palette for girls, pink and grey!
I had the pleasure of adding a little styling to Miescha’s nursery (which was pretty awesome to begin with), aiming to create warmth, balance and texture through a bit of layering with the use of rugs, throw pillows, blankets and mobiles; creating a room fit for only the finest of princesses.

Reyn’s Rocky Mountain Retreat Nursery

Baby Reyn’s Rocky Mountain Retreat Nursery was a labor of love for the new parents, and we were happy to help! The family loves the mountains, and wanted to bring a bit of it back to Texas for baby Reyn’s nursery design. We combined several design trends in this nursery, including the popular Deer Baby Bedding, and Woodland decor to come up with the perfect combination of mint, gray, and gold for the new arrival.
Design Tip: The adorable snow capped mountains are chalk board paint!

Ethan’s Horse and Hound Nursery

My husband David and I welcomed a little boy in August of 2016. I like to decorate rooms in a tasteful, yet cozy manner, and the baby room was no exception! We chose to go with a “Horse and Hound” theme. My husband is an outdoors enthusiast, and one of his hobbies is finding quail on horseback with our English Pointers. We love our dogs Molly, Huxley, and Bee, and our horse Clyde…so voila, a theme was born!
I approached the nursery like I do most projects… research, reviews, and inspirational photos (cue Pinterest, Instagram, and Project Nursery galleries). I then put together a design board using the Morpholio app on my phone. While the design evolved as the project progressed, the design board helped me to stay on track with my vision. We opted for a calming, light gray on the walls. I decided to add a little whimsy by painting some metallic gold brush strokes for a feature. It was a risk that I was scared to take, but I am so glad I went for it! I am a big fan of contrast, so I went for a bolder look with the vintage inspired black iron crib and some fun gray and white striped linens.
My favorite thing about the nursery is the crib wall and his little library. The “Velveteen Rabbit” quote above the crib was the reading we chose at our wedding, and I find the message unbelievably heartfelt. The teddy bear in the crib was baby’s first gift, and it came from none other than Daddy himself. The library made me think of my own favorite childhood books. I love snuggling in the rocker with my baby, and reading to him. We are going to have a lot of fun making precious memories in here!

Everlee Joy’s Coral, Gold and White Nursery

For the last few years I’ve been scouring Project Nursery & Pinterest for nursery ideas, dreaming about the day I’d get to set up our own! When we found out we were having a girl, I couldn’t wait to start putting it together! I knew I wanted to use primarily Coral, Gold, & White for the color scheme and was inspired by the crib quilt I found from Little Unicorn. We live in military housing so there’s a limit as to what we can change to the room, but overall our daughter’s nursery turned out to be the bright, girly, colorful space I was hoping for!
I loved finding little ways to personalize Everlee’s nursery! Here are some ways I did that:
DIY Floral Crib Mobile- Pinterest project! Super fun & easy and I was able to purchase all the supplies while Hobby Lobby had all their floral supplies priced at 50% off.  Here’s the link.
Framed “E”- The white frame is a vintage picture frame that belonged to my Granny. I removed the glass and hot glued faux spray roses onto paper to create the “E”
Prints- For the collage wall 3 of the “prints” are actually greeting cards that I received from friends at our baby shower! They were so cute & just happened to match her nursery colors perfectly! I framed them & voila! Adorable, cheap, personalized wall decor!
Knit Coral Blanket- my talented sister in law knit this beautiful blanket that I have draped over the rocking chair. I love that it matches her room & was specially made with love! Can’t wait to cuddle baby girl up in this!
Books- we bought used at Hastings & from Amazon while trying to conceive. Now our baby girl has a ready made library!
Nightstand- I wanted a functional, comfortable nursing space in the nursery knowing endless hours would be spent there! I have the nightstand drawers stocked with burp cloths, nursing pads, snacks & my tablet with a stand and charger. Something tells me Netflix is going to be a lifesaver during those middle of the night feeding sessions!

Rainbow / Harry Potter Themed Kid’s Bedroom

You know when your kid gets to an age where all of a sudden they have super strong opinions on what their room should look like? Ari is 5 now and wanted rainbows and gold painted all over the walls with Harry Potter posters. This was not going to fly. BUT I think I pulled off a combination of rainbows, Harry Potter, and my love of black and white modern style. Now we’re both happy!!

Besides decoration ideas, the BIG problem to tackle was organization and storage. This is where Land of Nod came in big time! Jenni and I both fell in love with the acrylic bookcase! It’s just so clean and pretty and perfect for treasures. The Home Edit came over and styled with special books and toys to look like… you guessed it… a rainbow!

Land of Nod also came in clutch with these soft bins perfect for the abnormal amount of stuffed animals my son collects. I absolutely LOVE that they are soft. One or two actually live on my son’s bed so that he can sleep with all of his stuffed buddies without them constantly falling off the bed.

I designed this abstract rainbow poster and have it for you as a FREE download! Yippee! I sent the file into Kinkos/FedEx and had them print it in an 18×24″ frame ready size.

This might seem crazy, but I really wanted to make an art installation out of books. Ari loves books (and so do I!) but his old book shelf cubbies were getting a little crazy looking. I saw blogger, Freckles Chick’s book shelves she used for her daughter’s room and knew that was the solution. I bought the 3.5″ deep shelves and installed them in rows. 6 of the 36″ and 3 of the 24″ shelves. Each row had one long, one short, one long to make three 96″ shelves. Then of course The Home Edit styled it for Ari so it looked like yet another rainbow!!

Our family is a BIT Harry Potter obsessed. Okay a lot obsessed. Luckily, we’ve passed our obsession to Ari. We came up with a “magic spell” to put him to sleep… and it really works! Dixie & Twine graciously made this “FALLIO ASLEEPO” sparkly banner for above his bed!
