Maison Ellie Interiors

Maison Ellie is an interiors studio specializing in beautiful and functional spaces for the little ones in your life.

Rebecca has had a natural talent and passion for interior design from a very young age. Following the birth of her children, she realized that her creativity was best channeled by designing and styling spaces for little ones. And so came to life her interiors studio, Maison Ellie.

Her bright and natural aesthetic is layered with texture and eclectic flare. She designs rooms that are both approachable and functional for the little one using it, while equally stylish and beautiful for the whole family to enjoy. Each space is packed with uniquely curated touches aimed to reflect the child's personality and equipped to grow with them for years to come.

Whimsical Shared Bedroom with Woods and Stars Wallpaper

Designing a shared kid’s room is no easy feat… not only are you creating a space that siblings will literally remember forever, it also requires extra consideration and functionality to suit the needs of two individual sets of interests!
The first step in creating this fun and functional room, was to introduce tons of storage that would work for my mini Clients well into their tweens. We ripped out the room’s old fireplace and installed a full wall of custom cabinetry, with open shelving and drawers along the middle for books, toys, nick nacks and painted masterpieces. We even incorporated hanging space and drawers on either side for each of the kids’ clothes; all behind closed door. I can’t get over how much stuff these built-ins can hold — it’s unreal! I even proposed turning an unused closet into a built-in desk nook, which turned out to be the perfect spot for virtual learning during this years’ pandemic.
We agreed on a fresh blue and pink colour palette and after several rounds of wallpaper sourcing, landed on the whimsical Cole & Son woods and stars wallpaper. The metallic star accents are a thing of beauty and add so much depth to the space. We layered in soft blues and pinks through textiles and a variety of decor pieces; like a robin blue desk chair, pastel toned bunting banner and gorgeous art prints. I really wanted to amp up the texture with items like this stunning Leanne Ford geometric wool rug and 100% Flax linen bedding from Dreams Jumper. I just adore how the colours and patterns work together in a very relaxed and whimsical way; from stars and moons, to rainbows and flowers… it’s now a wondrous room for two very imaginative kiddos!

Bright Modern Nursery with Parisian Flare

This nursery came together so seamlessly… it all started with a whimsical mural that inspired a blush pink, mauve and yellow colour palette — a combination that i’ve completely fallen in love with. When we started layering in some of the accessories, like the cute bow mobile, Magnolia Home low-pile rug, bold & unique cushions, and whimsical art, the vision really started to take shape. My Clients wanted a bright space that still felt soft and calming, and we accomplished just that. The glider, acylic crib and jenny lind bookcase bring in some really interesting shapes, textures and materials, which are musts in any space that I design. I adore how this nursery feels like a little ray of sunshine… so bright & warm!

Dreamy Swan Nursery

Some may see a concrete wall as a design limitation, but that was quite the opposite for me when designing this sweet nursery! I was instantly drawn to the raw finish and knew it needed something plush, light and textural to soften the space — the Fiona Walker England swan felt head did just the trick! We introduced other various textural elements, like a scalloped wool rug layered with a plush sheepskin, black-out curtain panels, a distressed velvet ottoman and a large woven basket. We also brought in some beautiful and dainty flower decals to add to the rooms’ peachy-pink colour story. Since the nursery didn’t have a wired ceiling light, we needed to incorporate multiple sources of lighting so opted for a gorgeous brass floor lamp and decorative table lamp, perfect for late night feeds and cuddles. This peachy nursery is just the sweetest… complete with a touch of timeless elegance and grace.

Modern Boho Nursery with Floral Wallpaper

Earthy, moody and calming… I am so in love with this sweet rosie nursery. This being my Clients’ third child, we were able to repurpose several elements they already had; from the light fixture, to the crib, to vintage art prints, to the sunburst mirror that once hung in their living room. We even picked the perfect Fusion Mineral Paint colour (pressed fern) to bring new life to their old IKEA dresser and framed a floral magazine clipping that was found in an old chest from an estate sale years ago. I love how vintage and sentimental elements always bring so much character to a space! To complement their renovated mid-century modern Edwardian home, we knew we needed a statement rug — this one fit the bill on every level and was the winning choice the second I saw it. The showstopping feature is definitely the beautiful handmade macrame that hangs in front of delicately sketched floral wallpaper in the most subtle blush colour. This serene nursery is all set for baby sister’s arrival and will surely be a room where many new memories will be made, for this beautiful soon-to-be family of 5!

Bright & Colourful Playroom with Mastermind Toys

It’s finally time to reveal the corporate playroom i’ve been working on for several months. Mastermind Toys, Canada’s largest specialty toy and children’s book retailer, wanted to transform an unused room at their HQ office into an inspiring space. It needed to be fun, bright and full of wonder… and I was up for the challenge! I was asked to create an environment that could serve many purposes. One to host vendors and suppliers, to hold internal meetings and workshops, as well as to capture all of their social and marking content. I had two large set walls built in order to create some pretty iconic and special moments and even transformed a small office space into a full photography studio, perfect for capturing product unboxing videos and storing photography gear. We were so lucky to have such wonderful partners join in to help bring this space to life; floor knot cushions from Juju & Jake, storage bins, rugs and bedding from Pehr, wall decals from Urban Walls, a reversible floor mat from Play with Pieces, wall decor and a bean bag from Gautier Studio, a slide from Catchu Boutique and wallpaper from Chasing Paper. The pièce de résistance is definitely the 5-foot custom neon sign from Neonific that really lights up the room with a playful and bold aesthetic. I am so proud of this incredible playroom that brings a sense of imagination and a twinkle to everyone’s eyes…

Colourful Playroom + Kid’s Work Space

A common dilemma that most families encounter with playrooms, is a lack of storage space. For this project with Caron from Roo Parenting, we found a way to neatly tuck away and hide toys, sports gear and craft supplies for her three children. Instead of multiple smaller storage pieces, we selected a large wardrobe system for one side of the room, filled with drawers and shelves that makes it easy to keep everything organized! We then incorporated a cozy reading nook with the most beautiful tassel pendant, and side-by-side wall desks to give the two older kids a spot for drawing and doing homework. This space was completely transformed into a fun and colourful space the whole family can enjoy, for many years to come!
