Lauren

Hi! My name is Lauren and I enjoy sharing what I love through pretty pictures with a bright and airy aesthetic. With a diploma from the Interior Design Institute, I am passionate about making homes beautiful – whether it’s a full-scale renovation, styling for the season, or decorating for a party. Since becoming a mom to Clara (2018) and Samuel (2020) I traded my cellphone camera for a DSLR so I could document our lives through high quality photos. As a result, I developed both the skills and a passion for photography! In addition to designing interiors, I really enjoy sharing products that enhance our lives as well as organization ideas, DIY projects and parenting tips!

Coastal Chic Gender Neutral Nursery

When I found out I was expecting a boy I was really stumped with what to do with the nursery. While I enjoy bold colours for boys’ rooms (think navy, forest green even black), my style preference is light and airy. I did not want to just paint the walls grey like the gender neutral nurseries I usually see on Pinterest.
I wanted to create a space that was “pretty” to look at but still somewhat masculine. I love wallpaper and I scoured the internet looking for some for this room, but I couldn’t find anything that I loved that hadn’t been over used in other boys’ rooms. When I couldn’t find a wallpaper I loved, I decided to create this unique feature wall with moulding. The wall is currently painted white, but it could change to a colour (such as navy) in the future! The other walls are painted light grey.
Designing a nursery in a pandemic when all the stores were closed was challenging. About 90% of the room was ordered online and when they re-opened I picked up a few decor items (pillows, picture frames) from HomeSense again. The shelves were pretty bare though so I never found exactly what I was looking for, however it will do for now! I love the nautical theme for boys’ rooms as well as coastal decor, so I combined these two elements. I didn’t want there to be boats and anchors everywhere, but I added a few nods to beach life in the decor and I used a beach inspired palette of blue, white and grey.

Clara’s Floral Bunny Nursery

When we moved into our new house I knew I had to design something I loved as much as Clara’s first nursery (check out “Clara’s Enchanted Garden Nursery” here on Project Nursery)! I wanted to do something a little different, but still make use of her blush pink accessories.
I decided to install wainscoting with wallpaper on top and keep the bunny theme. I originally planned to wallpaper the entire room which I still do think would look amazing, but to keep in budget I opted to wallpaper the crib wall only.
I am thrilled with how the room turned out and an so excited to finally share photos of the favourite room of our house! Thank you for looking!

Clara’s Garden Nursery

All the rooms in my home are very neutral, so I was excited to go with a very romantic girly style of nursery for my daughter’s nursery. The first thing I found was this beautiful “English Garden” wallpaper by Caitlin Wilson, so I built around that. I wanted to incorporate some little animals as well, so I thought of some animals you might find in a garden and incorporated them around her room. I introduced the animal theme through the prints above her dresser and continued the theme with the deer bookends in her closet, the owl lamp and sound machine, and the basket of bunnies beside the crib. We were lucky to receive tonnes of books at our baby shower, which gave me the idea to build shelving in her closet using IKEA’s billy bookcases. Before adding the bookcases, we painted the closet pink to add another pop of colour. The closet allows us to neatly store both our daughter’s clothes, numerous books and some other cute nick-nacks. We added 2 doors from IKEA to the bookcases to hide all the cluttery things (i.e., boxes of diapers/wipes, extra creams and lotions, baby shampoo etc) which keeps everything close for convenient access but it’s still tidy looking. Overall, I am really happy with how the nursery turned out!! I definitely splurged on the designer wallpaper and RH bedskirt, but many of the items in the room were purchased from very affordable shops such as Walmart, Wayfair, Bouclair and Winners.
