Julie Rootes Interiors

Fashion aficionado turned interior designer, Julie Rootes takes a page from the catwalk and fashion magazines and turns those ideas into beautiful, functional interiors for her loyal following of San Francisco/Bay Area clients. Grounded in a love for fashion that ultimately turned into a love for design when traveling through Europe, Julie’s interiors are dynamic, light and inspiring, often infused with bursts of color and filled with custom design details that are hallmarks of her designs. Describing her aesthetic as California chic with a southern flair, Julie has found an easy elegance in mingling California living with her southern upbringing. The result is a delightful mix of old and new, modern and traditional, in seamlessly approachable and livable interior spaces. Upon graduating from college, Julie worked for Prada in their retail division and in the advertising world before embarking on designing interiors for a boutique commercial and residential development firm. These fast-paced and client-driven environments taught her exceptional customer service skills, how to work under strict deadlines and most importantly how to manage budgets. In 2003 Julie started designing residential interiors on her own in San Francisco and Marin County. Julie graduated from Texas Christian University with a BS in Business Management and Marketing with a minor in Fashion Merchandising and Design. She later studied Interior Design at San Francisco’s Academy of Art. Julie lives in San Rafael, CA with her husband and three children and prides herself on creating beautiful spaces that stand up to the demands of the modern family.
