New mom with a passion for all things old. It's no surprise I jumped for joy when I heard wallaper was back in style. I love finding a way to make rooms have something unique about them.

Neutral Llama Nursery

My husband and I wanted to be surprised by the gender in the delivery room, so that called for a gender-neutral nursery. I always aim for something unique and wanted more than the traditional grey nursery. Green seemed like a nontraditional yet familiar gender neutral color and when I found this beautiful watercolor wallpaper my wheels really started spinning for the rest of the room. Our space is small so I found the perfect iron round crib that expands as the baby grows. The rounded edges allowed more space for the refinished antique rocking chair that is at least four generations old. I was actually rocked in it! I had the 80s fabric that my mother picked out for my nursery removed and had it reupholstered. I knew with a small room that doing white on the remaining three walls would be best. I kept the accent pieces (window and closet fabrics, faux hyde rug, llamas) light and airy with white and beige tones too. One of my favorite pieces is actually the inexpensive small Target dresser that my dad repainted green and then did a brushed antique overlay to make it look older. He also painted our mini globe light black to match the crib. I wanted the black crib to feel like it fit in. I choose metal knobs on the dresser to also go with it. As you can probably tell, I care about every detail and will work to make each piece feel as if it belongs. I think my seamstress thought I was crazy when I had her remove the original pink and blue balls off the llama head and replace them with green and gold ones. My thought was, I’m going to have to stare at this llama during a 2 a.m. feeding and I want to like what I’m looking at!
