Colorful & Cozy Baby Girl’s Nursery

Our first child, a baby girl, is due this October. Our spare room had never been used so I was working with a blank slate. I definitely love a good find, and I’m comfortable with a sewing machine, so I made the curtains and crib skirt. I’d seen a similar crib skirt at Pottery Barn, but refused to pay full price; instead I made my own with a duvet cover no longer in use. The crib itself is a replica of the one I had as a child, and I knew from the get-go it was the style we would use for our daughter. The dresser was a bargain find at a second hand shop, and all it needed was some paint. While it didn’t start out as a “theme,” the room ended up being an ode to strong women. I hung pictures of two of her great-grandmothers, Amelia Earhart, Wonder Woman, and a cool artsy find off Etsy of Frida Kahlo. I absolutely love how it all turned out.
