We had just decorated our daughter’s room in our old house before we moved.  With all of the business of every other room, Eden’s room suffered for quite a while.  The walls were neon green and yellow, with a huge blue shelf right in the middle.  We couldn’t take it any more, so we decided to tackle painting stripes.  It was a challenge that took us three full days, but we did it.  The base colors are off white, gray, and yellow.  There are lots of other color accents in the room, and each detail represents a piece of Eden. Travel, whimsy, funny animals, her favorite books, and a love of herself in the mirror!  Just about everything is within her reach, and that’s the way she likes it!

When we moved into our house, my daughter’s room was deep purple on the top, and light lavender on the bottom with tons of flower decals and quotes on the walls.  There was also dated white carpet, which we have unfortunately not replaced.  So, we tried to make the best of it.
We started by boldly wallpapering one wall.  It is an intense pattern, so we just went with one wall.  Then we painted the walls the same color as the wallpaper background.  Then, we just filled in with mostly white furniture and bold accents on the bed with pillows.  It’s a bright room, and the lightness it has now is so cheery.  My daughter’s favorite thing?  Her desk!  A $49 find at IKEA.  It’s actually a bench, but we used it’s the perfect size for a 4 year old.

I wasn’t planning on making a big deal for “the second’s” birthday, but then I felt guilty, so at midnight, I crept into the basement to collect things I had laying around to decorate and make our small little gathering a little more special.
