Modern Geometric Nursery with Subtle Star Wars Accents

We have two girls and when we learned that baby #3 would be a boy, I instantly knew his nursery would be clean + modern with a geometric motif throughout, a bit of departure from the bright and cheery nurseries we’d crafted for the girls. My husband and I are also Star wars fans (he’s a bit nerdier about it than I am) and during a trip we took to Disney World while I was pregnant (which happened to be where we announced our baby’s gender!), my husband casually mentioned the possibility of a Star Wars nursery. As I researched other Star Wars nurseries, I had a hard time finding ones that I felt weren’t too over the top or totally inundated with death stars and lightsabers and massive star wars emblems. We bought our son his first R2-D2 plush while at Disney and I set out to create a nursery that still felt hip and modern, but had a subtle Star Wars theme throughout. I wanted the space to be somewhere he could grow into, but would still make his dad smile every time he saw those subtle nods to the galaxy. Challenge accepted.
Before I officially chose any colors, I found his crib and dresser. Honestly, they became the color inspiration for the whole room. The nearly navy shade of blue with the brass brackets set the tone for what would become a navy, gray, and white color scheme with mixed metals throughout. Prior to this redesign, this room in our home was a dark shade of gray with ugly carpet and the ever despised popcorn ceilings. My husband replaced the flooring, painted the walls, scraped the popcorn ceilings and added crown molding throughout. What a huge difference! What was once a dark and gloomy room, is now our favorite place in the house! Bright and airy and perfect for our sweet boy!
Some of our favorite things in the room include the geometric shelf trio, the blocks that were hand-painted by everyone at our baby shower, the Death Star planter, his 3D printed moon night light, and the framed Star Wars blueprints that hang over his dresser. I’m also in love with the crib sheet and changing pad cover from Spearmint Baby! Not only are they adorable, but they’re so soft and stretchy too! My husband also designed the middle emblem for the prints, built the shelf trio, painted the large C and the curtain rods copper, and basically made my vision come to life in every way! We are thrilled with the way the room turned out and can’t wait to watch our babe grow up in there!
