Yellow and black

When my dear friend, Tracy, asked me to do the printables and dessert table for her son, Brendan’s first birthday, I was so honored. Tracy has amazing style and knew exactly the feel she wanted for Baby B’s party- modern, classy with a little bit of vintage. Tracy had picked the graphic marigold fabric for the tablecloth on the dessert table and wanted to use burlap and twine accents. She made the adorable paper mache bees for decorations and centerpieces and wrapped tin cans with twine to continue the vintage feel on the tables.For the dessert table, I stuck to treats that fit our gold, burlap and white color scheme. Yummy treats included beehive s’mores, caramel cheesecake shooters, honey popcorn, lemon parfaits, and store bought Oreo Cakesters decorate with chocolate stripes. The kids loved the bit of honey treat bags and honey taffy. For the backdrop picture, I simply sent the image of the bee that we used on the invitations to my local printer who enlarged it to fit our frame. The small frame on the table is a list of the many virtues Tracy and her husband, Charlie, wish for their son.Guest left with bumble gum tubes and Mason jars that Tracy had planted with sunflower seeds and a tag reminding them to “bee patient”. All the banners and labels were in the shape of a honeycomb. This is a fun nursery filled with DIY projects and thrift store makeovers.  The budget was tight so we used things we already had and inexpensive treasures we found along the way.  I played with patterns and textures to keep things sophisticated yet playful.  photo credit: http://blog.amoryanderson.com/

Dramatic wall mural for a baby girl’s nursery.

-The dessert table consisted of the main cake, cupcakes in custom 3d checkered wrappers topped with lollipop like signs that read a few different things, marshmallow pops individually wrapped and tied with a knot, and candy in just the colors of the party! -The favors were these amazing cookies in the shape of a #1, but frosted with the race car theme. These were also individually wrapped with a personalized thank you tag tied to hot wheel cars. -The “Winner’s Circle” is where the cake eating/smashing started. A cardboard black and white checkered mat was placed under the highchair with a banner above. The high chair had its own personal banner and held the personal cake & custom hat. -The water bottles all had personalized black and white checkered labels with a gas pump on them and read fuel. -The birthday boy wore a shirt with a black and white checkered #1 on it and his name. The big bro wore a shirt that read “pit crew”
