Penny and Lucy’s Whimsical Girls’ Bedroom

When we downsized from a 4 bedroom to a 2 bedroom home, it was clear that our newborn and 2 year old daughters would need to share a room. Our eldest had previously had a Woodland Fairytale themed room, and our newborn had a Neverland inspired nursery, so I decided to incorporate elements of both designs to create a fun and playful room that both of the girls would love.
Instead of going with a specific theme, I stuck with a defined color palette to help all of the elements tie together. Because I wanted the corally pinks, yellows, and silvery blues to really pop, I stuck with a neutral background of white walls and furniture. This allowed the colors to shine but also kept the room feeling calm and peaceful.
The mermaid and adventure inspired artwork on the walls, tied with the bunting and paper flower chandelier, added whimsy to the room, and the letters above the bed helped to personalize each girl’s space. Children’s books displayed on the walls added more functional artwork to the room, and the shelving served as a place to display treasures and store extra books.
