Reed’s Starry Retreat

I didn’t set out with any particular “theme” in mind for this room but once I decided to DIY that starry ceiling version of one of my favorite wallpapers, it all came together.  From that one point of inspiration a loose celestial theme evolved – light and peaceful with touches of dark wood to warm things up and loads of different textures.  You can see my original inspiration board for the room here.

A Home Run Nursery for Baby Derek

When we found out we were having a little boy, we just knew we had to do a baseball-themed nursery! My husband is a huge Yankees fan, so we chose a gray, blue, and white color scheme and used vintage baseball touches and artwork throughout. We chose furniture pieces that could last through several theme changes as our child ages and has his own opinion, and pieces that provided plenty of flexible storage, like a dresser as a storage table and canvas cubes in a bookcase along with wall shelves for more books and knick knacks.

Gavin’s Vintage Industrial Inspired Nursery

Boy nurseries are hard! I was very discouraged with the bedding designs and color schemes out there to choose from.  There were plenty of Jungle Animals and sports nurseries, but that is not even close to what I wanted and it was discouraging! I decided I was just going to have to put it all together myself. I LOVE decorating, but have never designed a room for a BOY! It was challenging and intriguing and I realized there is such a need for better boy nursery ideas. My hope is that Gavin’s nursery will inspire new moms to be just as excited about designing boys nursery as they are about girls!
