Up, Up & Away baby shower for baby Izaak
I started collecting ideas for a travel-themed nursery well before I found out that I was pregnant. My husband and I both love to travel and can’t wait to share our adventures with our children someday. We had a great time selecting the items for the room and putting everything together. Hopefully, this room will inspire our little girl to go out and see the world!
In anticipation of welcoming home a new baby boy, this dual purpose space is in need of a makeover. This interior design project tackles the ins and outs of creating room for a new baby into a shared space by a big brother and future house guests.

Mission: Place to grow for baby, grown up place ready for adults
Style: Serene whimsy for baby, sophisticated comfort for adults
Budget: $2,000 (supplies, furniture & accessories)
I wanted to create a cultural/travel themed nursery for my second son. I’m 2nd generation Indian and my husband is 4th generation Chinese, so I wanted to reflect both of our cultures in the nursery.
To create a relaxing and welcoming space for our little one that reflected a life of traveling and discovery (those from the past and those to come). I wanted to incorporate objects from around the world as well as books from my childhood (in Spanish) and accents from Brussels (my husband’s home town). As we often have family/friends visiting from overseas it was a must to have a daybed! We love the one we found and the six large storage baskets underneath will surely come handy for toys, linens and diapers.
Gray walls, gray carpet, chevron valances, and dark wood furniture meld to create a calm environment for baby Jack.
