Classic Oxford Nursery

We picked our home office to turn into the nursery instead of a bigger space, like one of our guest bedrooms. We wanted the nursery to be right next to the master and knew we would have to work with a somewhat small space. I, personally, wanted to create a magical perspective on the natural world for our baby boy. I’ve never been big into blue/pink/koala bears/princesses and other cheesy baby decors. On the other hand, I’ve always been obsessed with preppy looks and old-world style. Nothing like the antic, cozy, and warm library feel of a very old house or manoir, but of course, we wanted the room to still be a fun and bright space for a very young kid. The nursery is filled with gentle but vibrant tones and soft, natural textures such as linen and cashmere fabrics with classic & timeless plaid & tartan as well as pieces of furniture that baby boy won’t outgrow in a few months and can keep for a long time. The wall art and different pieces have been carefully curated to tell my future little knight the most extraordinary stories!

Neutral Boho Coastal Nursery

We chose a coastal inspired nursery for my son because of my upbringing in Coastal New England and because we are fortunate enough to live only 1800 steps from the beach. I have always found solace in the sound of the waves crashing and truly appreciated growing up in an area that brought me such peace.
My first job was at Woodman’s of Essex which is famous for their seafood, and is a New England staple. My entire family worked at this establishment as well and we would each say it was of our favorite place to work. We really looked forward to the clam bakes, the local travel and everything that goes along with the lifestyle of living by the beach. We adore this community and hope our son grows up with as much love for it as we have!
My advice to any current or expecting parents is to create something that truly resonates with you and will be meaningful for years to come. I chose neutral tones for the nursery with the consideration that we could one day have a girl who may share the space. I also wanted this room to embody the quaint and charming characteristics of New England that can be appreciated by a boy or a girl, and can be a fun place for them to create memories as they grow up.

Livys Girly & Chic Nursery

I finally finished my 2nd daughters nursery and it was everything I imagined and more. Furnishings took a lot longer due to covid this time around but it was well worth the wait. I chose to mix highs and lows such as an Alice Lane rug mixed with a HomeGoods find photo for above the crib. Every little inch of this nursery was perfectly planned and I can’t wait to create so many memories in here with our little family 💗
We worked with the same contractor we worked with before for Charlottes nursery (featured on Project Nursery as well under “Neutral Girly Perfection”) and he is beyond wonderful to work with. He did the flooring which is the same Pergo Outlast from Home Depot and the wainscoting on the walls/paint. It turned out beautifully! A lot of the other details are added below- please reach out on other social platforms linked if you would like more information. Thank you 💕

Baby G Nursery

The point of departure for this project came from the wallpaper we picked for the space. We wanted something that the little one can grow old with when the nursery eventually turns into their grown up bedroom. Instead of designing the bedroom with a lot of pink for the little girl, we decided to use pick as an accent colour instead to keep it neutral, yet with a hint of feminine touch overall along with the gold accents.

Emily’s Nursery

I am so so excited to share my sweet baby’s nursery with you guys! Fun fact – I knew I wanted this color blue (Upward by Sherwin Williams) in this nursery before I even knew the gender of my baby. So I was going to make it happen either way. I really wanted picture frame molding also but worried that it would be too feminine for a little boy. So let’s just say I’m super happy that we are having another little girl! And I love this blue mixed with the pale pops of pink! It’s exactly what I wanted and I’m so in love with every single detail.
I’ve worked with Mod Wood Co on several projects in the past for clients so when it was time for a project of my own, I knew I HAD to work with them again. I sent an inspiration image of what I was sorta thinking for over the crib and she knocked this custom name sign out and had it at my front door within days! I seriously can’t say enough about their company. They are the best! I’m so in love with the freestanding cut out of her name above the crib. And for the wreath, I simply just attached lambs ear garland around a macrame embroidery hoop.
I’m a firm believer in not skimping on your closets. They should be just as much a part of the room as anything else. And it’s another opportunity to have fun with design. This closet was certainly no different. I used this gorgeous floral wallpaper from Livette’s Wallpaper and it was everything I wanted and more! Their peel and stick wallpaper is super easy to use and they can customize the color to whatever you need. They’ll even match colors from brands like Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. I went with a simple navy here just to make it pop against the lighter blue walls. I LOVE it!
I’m kind of shocked by the amount of people that are so interested in our mini door. Honestly, I wanted to kind of make it disappear so that’s where the idea of picture frame molding came from. I felt it would stick out too much if we were to keep the door white. So painting the trim, doors, and walls all the same color helped it blend in and not stick out. But soooo many people want to know all about this “magical door”. I wish I had a more exciting story but it’s just the entrance to our attic. And don’t worry, we put a lock on it so you can’t get in without a key. AND I made sure to have my husband put the deadbolt lock on the inside just in case little girls try to lock each other inside down the road one day 🙂
This nursery is so special to us and we can’t wait to meet our baby girl very soon! We hope you enjoyed this room tour!

Whimsical Nature Themed Nursery

When we first found out we were having a boy, I knew I wanted to design a whimsical nursery that reflected my husbands and my love for nature. I envisioned a space brought to life with a landscape of trees, furry animals friends, and magical storybook tales. But it was important to me that the space not only evoked imagination, but also carried a classic sophistication. There were times that I had a hard time balancing the two and remembering that this is a BOYS nursery. I often lean towards feminine and ornate designs so I had to keep myself in check!
My favorite part of the nursery is the mural of trees lining the crib’s wall. I felt like it carried me into a scene of Peter Rabbit and I used that as the inspiration behind the nurseries design. Because it was the focal point, I wanted to find things that were subtle and wouldn’t interfere with it. I kept the furniture a soft white so that the colors in the wall would show through while coordinating with the pops of blue in the patterned rug, pillows, and wall paint. The playful touches like the pom pom trim curtains, woodland animal pillow, and plaid rug kept the space playful while the elegant furniture pieces helped balance the space. Some of the furniture pieces were thrift store finds that I refinished in a shabby chic style. I love finding antique pieces that are unique and tell a story, plus they often save me a lot of money!
The nursery is ready but won’t be complete until our bundle of joy arrives. My hope is that as he grows, he finds this space as special and inspiring as we do and shares our passion for nature and imagination.

Newport Cottages Traditional Baby Boy Nursery

I wanted something traditional and timeless for our baby boy, Henry.  Nursery includes: Thibaut Piedmont Stripe wallpaper, Newport Cottages furniture, and the Tryp Glider by Best Chairs upholstered in Central Park Toile by P. Kauffmann.  Bedding, crib skirt, crib panel, and shams were done by Naperies in Dallas, TX. I loved how easy it was to customize Henry’s furniture working with Newport Cottages, and their quality is impeccable. I want to look at pictures in 30 years and still think of his room as being in style.

Madelyn’s Coral and Aqua Traditional Nursery

When I found out I was pregnant I couldn’t wait to begin collecting ideas for our nursery.  I stumbled upon the Project Nursery site and poured over many pictures before formulating a specific vision for Madelyn’s room.  I began by saving screen shots of all of the nurseries that caught my eye.  I then made a list of items I wanted to be sure to include in her room and began searching for those items in my chosen color palette, coral and aqua.  As I designed this room, I wanted the end result to be bright, cheery, feminine, and something that could easily transition from infanthood to girlhood.
My search began with the bedding as I wanted to create everything else around that.  I love damask print, so when I found crib bedding in this print with coral tones I was in luck!  Once the bedding was in place, I began searching for items for the gallery wall.  Being that the crib bedding is all coral, I knew I needed to incorporate the aqua in other ways, so I searched for gallery wall pieces that would help me tie in this additional color.
My one tip for those starting this process is to gather as many ideas as possible.  Look through pictures and jot down what you like about each one.  As you do this, you will eventually formulate a vision for your own nursery.  Don’t be afraid to mix colors and patterns and have fun!

Pink Toile Shabby Chic Nursery

This very girly pink princess nursery was one of our trademarked Gender Surprise Nurseries. When you don’t want to find out the gender of your baby, but want a nursery planned specifically for the gender  anyway, you hire Jack and Jill Interiors to design a Gender Surprise Nursery. For one flat fee, I’ll plan an entire boy’s nursery and an entire girl’s nursery for your…right down to every little accessory! Then with your permission, I obtain the gender from your doctor and get to work ordering and installing the gender specific nursery behind locked doors. When you deliver your baby and bring him or her home from the hospital, your gender specific nursery awaits your first peek! It’s a great way to add to the fun and excitement of planning for your precious new bundle!
This particular toile pink nursery was initially planned for a home that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Every item was selected to fit perfectly into a room with a vaulted ceiling, an entire wall of windows and another wall with a built-in shelving unit on which we were going to place pretty lined baskets and other baby goodies. When the family was forced to relocate to a new home, we found ourselves with a few design challenges making things work for a completely different space. The overabundance of picture-frame moulding was especially challenging and several items planned for the wall space simply woulding work now, including a very wide branch with birds decal and another decal featuring a favorite inspirational quote from mom-to-be. But in the end, we’re all very pleased with this baby girl nursery and the clients are thrilled that baby Jules will have a beautiful nursery despite Hurricane Sandy!
The picture frames above the crib will eventually hold sepia toned newborn photos and family photos. I don’t like hanging blank frames on the wall, so I cut up some coordinating wall paper and fabric to make a monogram plaque and silhouette to temporarily fill the voids.
