Dreamy Swan Nursery

Some may see a concrete wall as a design limitation, but that was quite the opposite for me when designing this sweet nursery! I was instantly drawn to the raw finish and knew it needed something plush, light and textural to soften the space — the Fiona Walker England swan felt head did just the trick! We introduced other various textural elements, like a scalloped wool rug layered with a plush sheepskin, black-out curtain panels, a distressed velvet ottoman and a large woven basket. We also brought in some beautiful and dainty flower decals to add to the rooms’ peachy-pink colour story. Since the nursery didn’t have a wired ceiling light, we needed to incorporate multiple sources of lighting so opted for a gorgeous brass floor lamp and decorative table lamp, perfect for late night feeds and cuddles. This peachy nursery is just the sweetest… complete with a touch of timeless elegance and grace.

Ella Grace’s Swan Lake Nursery

Ever since I was a little girl, one of my favorite cartoons was The Swan Princess. When we found out the gender of our future baby, I instantly did some research on a “Swan Lake” sort of theme. Has anyone done this before? How will I implement this? This nursery is more based on Swan Lake meets classy chic theme. A swan is such a beautiful animal and what is more graceful than a swan for our Ella Grace. My mother and I DIY’d a lot of the details ourselves because nothing quite fit our vision, and I absolutely love the way it turned out. Once she is older, I am sure she will appreciate the timeless, classy nursery we created for her.

Swan Nursery

This is actually my baby girl’s second nursery with in her first year of life. At the young age of just 6 months old we relocated for my husband’s job. Her first nursery was bright, cheerful, and fun! This time I wanted to go the complete opposite with a soft and dreamy space and a few chic and sophisticated touches. A few months ago as I was scrolling through The Land of Nod pages, this gorgeous riding toy swan stopped me dead in my tracks. I fell head over heels and ordered it immediately (without even having the house yet!). I used lots of white, ivory, and flowing fabrics to create the soft dreamy feel. The chaise lounge was actually a great bargain and adds that touch of sophisticated elegance. I used abstract art, watercolor prints, and typography sleek frames for a chic element. I added the silk florals to dress up a simple mirror. The beautiful crib is a true vintage Jenny Lind that I painted in Behr’s Castilian Pink. This room was fun to dream up and see come to fruition. I hope you enjoy!
