Pink, Mint and Gold Nursery

When I was a child and transitioning into a new room, my aunt came to visit and help decorate. She told me that I could pick any colors that I wanted and though that seemed like an endless possibility to a 3 year old, I immediately knew what I wanted. I vividly remember looking in my Crayola box at color choices. I suppose that yellow box stood in place of my Sherwin Williams paint deck back in the day! I pulled out 2 crayons that were missing the points because they were used so often, pink and mint green. I made my request to my aunt, who was probably thrilled since I didn’t pick anything too difficult to work with, and she immediately went to work.

The room was filled with vintage pieces found at antique stores. An old rusty iron bed that was painted light pink, a milk glass lamp, pink and green chenille linens, and my Nannie (grandmother) crocheted the most beautiful pink and mint coverlet. It was the most beautiful room I had ever seen and I always said that if I ever had a daughter, her room would also be pink and mint. I wanted the room to be feminine and classic and able to transition into her childhood.

I knew I wanted floral drapes and couldn’t find any that fit. I came across the fabric Riley Blake Chatsworth Main which is actually a quilting fabric and sewed them lined with blackout lining for extra weight. The Jenny Lind bed was mine as a baby and I painted it gold to update it a bit. The bedding is a mixture of Pottery Barn Kids, Target and a custom made dust ruffle. The dresser was an awesome goodwill find that I painted with chalk paint and I also painted the artwork.

Sleepy Eyes, Birds and Bunnies Nursery for Olivia

As much as we love decorating nurseries, that excitement is always amplified when it’s for one of our own little ones! We didn’t know if I was having a girl or a boy while I was pregnant, so the first things we bought were some neutral modern furniture pieces that could go either way, but once I had our baby girl I knew I wanted to make her room just a little softer. We started by finding this great bedding from Lolli Living; I just loved the minimalist and modern print paired with the soft girly pinks and mints.  It was the perfect jumping off point. Then we painted the walls the palest of pinks and added some adorable heart decals. Once we found this amazing sleepy eyes print, we knew it was just the thing to finish off the look of Olivia’s room. It’s so simple, but so cute! We carried the sleepy eyes theme into a few other places in the room, along with repeating the birds from her bedding and added a fluffle of little bunnies (yup – that’s the adorable term for a group of bunnies. Amazing!). It became the perfect mix of modern and sweet pieces for us and our little girl.

Elena’s Mint and Pink Nursery

I wanted something soft, classic and neutral that would eventually transition to Elena’s big girl bedroom.  Initially I had painted her walls a medium gray with aqua, light pink and dark pink accents.  As time went on I grew to dislike the gray walls more and more.  My husband kept telling me that it needed to be something softer, more feminine (this coming from a guys guy!).  I chose a soft mint color for the walls and added in gold, white and pink accents.  I transferred the decor and furniture that wasn’t used in the new design to her playroom.  Not only does my husband love the transformation, but Elena does too!

Peony and Mint Nursery

As soon as we knew we were having a baby girl I knew her nursery would have this amazing Watercolor Peony wallpaper. It is the focal point of the room with its beautiful coral and mint green flowers, butterflies and crickets.  To keep it from getting too busy we added a chair rail and painted a coordinating color below it.  The dressers and bookcase were from my own bedroom as a little girl, I just had them painted to match the trim in the room and replaced the outdated brass hardware with a more classic bronze handle. I love the classic look of an iron crib and found one that matched the dresser hardware perfectly. I love our glider and think it will be very practical for future babies as it has a versatile, traditional shape and is slipcovered for easy cleaning. The sheepskin ottoman adds a bit of fun and texture.  Custom silk curtains were the final, elegant touch!

Ivy’s Pink and Mint Hip and Cheery Nursery

This nursery gives off a hip, cheery, and fun vibe! I used pink and mint as my color choices and found anything that used those colors to make my little Ivy’s nursery come alive and become a place her and I could enjoy together.
In the crib corner, I created an art print wall with modern white frames. I loved prints with creative sayings and fun pictures!
The crib is a cute white Jenny Lind crib with spindles. I followed that theme and added a mint spindle night stand and a hot pink spindle lamp.
I also used my DIY skills and made a ribbon garland for an empty corner where the dresser is. I transformed my dresser into my changing table and hung some little mobile birdies with cute fabric prints above. I found an adorable mint changing pad cover to add a delicate color to it.
For the recliner and reading corner, the room has some serious high ceilings so I bought a tall bookcase to break up the room. I have a comfy chair from Pottery Barn with a knit blanket on the back. I used canvas prints from Ivy’s newborn photos and my maternity photos as a backdrop.
Lastly, the room is pretty big, so I knew I needed a little bit of color. I wanted it to be calm with a bit of pop. I added a pink accent wall and used a grayish color on the rest of the walls. I just LOVE the accent wall! It’s so much fun!
