This was my little girl’s first birthday, a Ladurée Paris Tea Party
The Madeline book series is one of my daughter’s absolute favorites. We’ve been reading them together for over a year now, and Liesl can recite most of the lines by heart. Once I saw how much she (and I) loved reading these books, I decided to use ‘Madeline in Paris’ as the theme for her 3rd birthday party.
In true pregnant (read: “unhinged”) fashion, I decided to DIY this baby room myself, down to the bare-bones details. Which means Husband and I have spent a good part of the last two months nailing, caulking, sanding, painting, upholstering, sewing, spray painting, decoupaging, and glue gunning ourselves into complete DIY exhaustion. The result? A darling French-style gray and orange nursery that reminds me of Paris in the Fall. I have some tutorials and fun ideas related to this nursery on my blog at Sisteroo.com. Feel free to check it out!

I focused on a modern nursery that would easily transition with Audrey as she grows. A baby’s room that wasn’t too “baby” or overly girlie. Her parents are young, cool, and hip…and that’s what I wanted to convey in the design. Baby Audrey did her best to let me know what she liked too–lots of swirls and lots of kicking.
For this party we wanted the dessert table to be reminiscent of a bakery in Paris. We choose macaroons of course! as well as a cake in the shape of the Eiffel Tower, decadent cupcakes, and yummy macaroons. We even dressed the birthday girl in a darling tiered tutu dress topped with a ornate custom head piece. A ornate frame held a custom sign made for the birthday girl and was center stage for her beautiful dessert table.
