Modern Rococo Baby Girl Nursery

Baby Nahla’s Nursery is a modern twist on a classic Rococo Interior. The nursery has a graceful upholstered wall of colorful butterflies that serves not only as the focal point of the Nursery, but also makes the room feel warm and quiet. It features classic lush silk drapery, fun multicolor pompom drapery trim and fine Victorian furniture in an elegant eggshell finish. The modern twist to the Nursery is the graphic faux carousel canopy painted in beautiful bold colors on the ceiling.

Reed’s Starry Retreat

I didn’t set out with any particular “theme” in mind for this room but once I decided to DIY that starry ceiling version of one of my favorite wallpapers, it all came together.  From that one point of inspiration a loose celestial theme evolved – light and peaceful with touches of dark wood to warm things up and loads of different textures.  You can see my original inspiration board for the room here.

Boy’s Modern + Vintage Room

We wanted a colorful, whimsical space with both modern and vintage pieces, clean lines as well as handmade elements. We painted the walls a dark navy blue to make the colors pop and to set off the warm rustic elements. In order for the design to last we refrained from making the room too “babyish”. We love the juxtaposition of the modern elements against the rustic and vintage pieces.

Poppie’s Sweet Candy Land Nursery

My daughter, Poppie Ainsley’s room was inspired by the family board game, Candy Land. We began the process by painting the room a great Tiffany blue color and then candy striped the ceiling pink, red and white (talk about a tough task at seven months pregnant). I then painted the Candy Land mural on one wall. We kept the cost of the room low by using a floor model “Toys R Us” Amy Coe Crib and Target Brand furniture. Little accents like polka dotted knobs made the pieces look way more expensive than they actually were! We painted an 80% off clearance mirror frame bright red and balanced the color of the room with the round, white, textured rug. A couple of leftover Valentine’s Day floor pillows added wonderful color and shape. The art is simply framed game cards from Candy Land. Finally brightly colored candy was placed in jars through out the room for a little extra fun. We love it! I hope you do as well!
