Our Little Prince’s Nursery

My husband and I had a lot of fun putting up our little boy’s nursery! I had gathered ideas from Project Nursery and Pinterest over the past years. And I also collected artworks that inspired me during our travels all over the world.
My main inspiration/starting point for this room (and an advice for fellow moms putting up nurseries) was the wall color. It is called “Sea Salt” from Sherwin Williams and I love how the color changes according to the light: hints of blue, green and warm light grey. It is also very peaceful, serene and I liked how I could match it with some pops of brighter orange color to make an interesting contrast. With touches of warm grey, mint and white, my nursery palette was complete and reminded me of childhood colors on the seashore of my native island, Corsica.
In terms of style, I would say that we wanted to go for a modern, yet warm, look. Also something that was not too babyish (so it could grow with our boy) or too gendered. Our theme was storytelling and forest animals such as the owl (my favourite bird!) and the fox which reminded me of “The Little Prince”. We knew we wanted a library corner in the nursery (our baby shower was also a “build your first library” which helped tremendously filling it up with books that included notes from friends and family). The rocking chair is fantastic, it is from a Canadian company based in Toronto, Monte Designs and we customized the colors to march our decor.
Finally a nursery is a labor of love :-) So my other advice would be to take your time to put up the nursery and plan in advance so that you can include some pieces that are very personal and tell a story. For example, I love the framed baby shower guest signatures (pile of stories/books containing the name of each guest).
