Parker + Jolie’s Big Girl Bunk Beds Room

Parker and Jolie’s room isn’t very big, but I guess when you have two of everything and something crammed on every wall space it would seem a little full. we’ve been talking about creating a room with space saving as the focus and finally pulled the trigger. building a nursery as a first time mom was much different than what I experienced with the two babies that followed the twins. I was on bed rest very early on in my pregnancy (24 weeks) and didnt really get to lay hands on and plan a nursery- a lot of things came from online shopping and sort of hoping everything would flow together once we got it in the room. I stuck to the same color scheme as I had originally envisioned in their nursery: lots of coral + mint green and turquoise + shades of purple and I added in grays + whites for their big girl update.  this allowed me to be able to reuse and update the decor and furniture we already had, saving money on those big purchases.  they absolutely love their new space and spend a lot of time in here playing dress up in front of that repurposed mirror and reading their books from their DIY bookshelves! not to mention how BIG they feel to sleep in their “big girl bunk beds”. I love this room! every time I walk by I catch myself slowing a bit just to admire it a little.

The Land of Make Believe

My youngest daughter was just about to transition out of her crib and into her big girl bed like her older sister. They were both growing up so fast I wanted to give them a bedroom makeover that encompassed everything they loved to do at this stage in their life. Playing dress up, having tea parties and of course being a fairy princess. I sat down with my older daughter who is 4 and we put together the most awesome To do list of anything our little minds could come up with. Riding unicorns and flying to the moon! One of my wants was for them to be able to sleep under the stars every night so I made a cloudy sky above their bed and hung gold glittered stars everywhere. I tried to incorporate as many aspects of our little to do list into their bedroom. The custom bedding represented the swimming with Mermaids, we put in a little Fairy nook so the fairies could come in and dance with them. I used butterflies through out the room so they could chase them where ever they went. Their absolute favorite thing to do thought is play dress up so that was my main focus. I gave them their own little vanity with play makeup and a dress up bin that they could easily access all their favorite pieces and they had to have a place for all those shoes. They love their room so much and I had the greatest time designing it for them.

Simple Pink and Gray Nursery Turned Shared Room for Girls

When we found out we were pregnant five years ago, I knew I wanted a soft and peaceful nursery for my first child, Shiloh, so I decided to go with “less is more.”  Three years later, we welcomed our second daughter, Sailor, who had her own beautiful room….. for a year. We welcomed our third child into the world just 13 months later and since he was a boy, he took over Sailor’s room. Pictured are the stages Shiloh’s room took throughout the transition from nursery to toddler room to shared room with sister Sailor.  An addition was added to the house throughout this process which required a hall. We took about five feet from the room to use as a hall, so everything was re positioned and that’s when we painted the accent wall. My husband is very artistic and creative and did this on his own. I love every stage this room has been in and its one of my favorite rooms in the house.

A Little Girl’s Shared Pink Nursery

When I found out I was having a girl, I dreamed on and on about what her room would look like. I hesitated going straight for pink because I thought it was so cliché. Then I told myself: I am having a girl, my first baby girl, and it is my time to go all pink! It didn’t take a lot of self-convincing. When baby number two came along we decided to have the girls share a bedroom. So the only things I needed were more diapers, a crib and a bedding set. I split the original crib bedding set in two. The bumper and diaper holder went to baby Sofia’s crib while the quilt and crib skirt went to Carolina’s crib converted into a toddler bed. Both of them got a new sheet set and a blanket. I also added some white and pink pillows, including one I made out of the valance that came with the crib bedding set. Additionally, their bedroom also doubles as a playroom. So for that side of the room I bought a play table with roll out bins where they store most of their stuffed animals. The walls received a soft coat of pink. White shelves hold picture frames, stuffed animals, and a few other accents like the little love radio they enjoy listening and dancing to. Also, because we believe every child should be able to draw on the walls, we gave them a little chalkboard vinyl.
