Baby Girl Nursery
Decorating my first nursery for my soon to be daughter on a budget. Lots of creative thinking went into her room.

Laila’s toddler room was inspired by a set of plain white butterflies that caught my eye at Target. I bought and returned them a few times, because they didn’t go with her very neutral jungle theme nursery. When we received her “princess sleigh bed” from a family friend, I knew exactly what I wanted to do for her toddler room.I spray painted the butterflies to match the letters I had made for her nursery, and the flowers to match the bedding. I also painted frames of various sizes and styles to match. We use this family photo wall to sing/say goodnight to our family members who live far away.We also took off the hanging doors to the closet to make this great reading area, that I’m sure someday will be turned into a stage of some sort. The “bench” is actually where the cold return is for the heater, so it was already in place. The teddy bear light may look out of place, but it is a sentimental piece from my own nursery that my mom passed down for my daughter.
A gender neutral nursery that is playful, bright and full of personal touches. A combination of splurge and “save” items come together for a space that’s not too modern and not too traditional. The room also has lots of interesting patterns to look at without being too busy.
I wanted a nursery with clean girly look but not candy sweet, so decided on gray, mustard yellow and pink color palette
I spent the last 6 months working on a nursery for our first baby. I wanted something fun, colorful and inexpensive. Buying used is one of my favorite things and I love that all of the furniture in the room I either owned or bought used (for under $150 total). We are renting so I didn’t want to mess with paint or permanent changes but still wanted a lot of color.
We were so excited when we found out we were having a boy! I’m really not into the traditional baby blue thing and I wanted to stray from the traditional color palette, so I chose orange, grey, and brown. It was also important that the nursery was one of a kind and super unique so we did a lot of refinishing and creative thinking.
Colorful, whimsical nursery perfect for a new baby boy
We tried to create a bright and cheerful room for our little girl. We made or refinished a lot of what is in the room, so it makes it really special for us and for E.
Boy’s room with a color scheme and accessories that will grow with him.
We are having a “surprise” baby!
I wanted to create a baby room that wasn’t too “babyish.” All decorations are handmade by me.
I am having a little girl and couldn’t wait to start on her nursery as soon as I found out the sex! I love girly stuff, but didn’t want to do the traditional pinks and purples, so I went with Tiffany Blue with white and pink accents.
Nursery
Not knowing the gender of our baby while pregnant, (we had a girl) I wanted to put together a gender neutral nursery. I also knew I wanted to incorporate birds as part of the theme. We have a small house, so this bedroom will be used for multiple children, which I had to keep in mind. (We’ll be getting creative with space and adding other pieces of furniture later). Originally, I was going for a more modern look, but it turned out looking much more whimsical. What can I say, I’m a sucker for TWALL! Combined with the birds and the white furniture, the outcome was more traditional. My inspiration is from an assortment of fabrics, including the brown and white patchwork quilt used for crib bedding and an various teal and orange fabrics from JoAnn. My mother in law created the bird mobile from all of the fabrics. The crib and changing table were both given to us used (changing table found by my sister in law on Freecycle). The crib was originally a pine finish and the changing table was oak with forest green accents. We stripped and spray painted both white. The side table is from Ikea and the overstuffed glider (lots of use in the last few weeks) is from Babies R Us. The wall arrangement above the crib is made up of white frames from Ikea, vintage alphabet cards from Etsy, plates from the thrift store, and canvases covered with my inspiration fabrics. The shelf above the changing table is from Ikea. The lamp was a Home Goods find. The bird picture below the Ikea shelf was found at Bed Bath and Beyond. The hooks and curtains are also Ikea.
A fun, modern nursery for our little guy.
Ecclectic vintage inspired nursery
Our five-month-old son Jack’s nursery. We wanted a mostly gender neutral room with a hint of masculinity. It was important to me to have a soothing, calm vibe. If our next child is a girl, we will do a white crib and dresser while leaving the rest of the decor.
Blue, white and citrine yellow nursery for baby Matthew, due April 28
I’ve daydreamed about creating a nursery for years… finding out I was having a boy presented a challenge for me – as I had only envisioned a pink shabby chic room! Decorating for a boy seemed daunting to me – I didn’t want trains or trucks – little by little this is what came to be!
Colorful fun for a little boy!
