Drum shade

This is the beginning stages of my gray chevrons stripe nursery for my baby Henry. I love the look of the chevron stripe, but the chevron also reflects my grandfather who owned a Chevron Oil Gas Station starting in the 1950s. I have the old chevron toy trucks that were given as promotions years ago surrounding the Henry letters I have hanging. I plan to add more personal touches with pictures soon. The pegboard with the clothes hanging is a pegboard that was given to my mother when I was born. My mom said that she always displayed my favorite clothes on that pegboard so now I display my favorite clothes of Henry’s on the pegboard. It’s another way to enjoy his clothes since I love dressing him so much too!

A few shots from my oldest daughter’s room. She’s now 2.5 but these were her early nursery photos. We did not know the gender until birth, so I went with a gender neutral palate of brown and green.

We wanted something that was equally sophisticated and comforting, feminine but not too girlie for our princess-to-be.

We wanted something that would transition well to a “big boy” room in a few years, so instead of a theme or anything too babyish, we went for more modern with bright colors and patterns!

Her older brother Madden is just 18 months old and has moved into his own room. Now Macey has moved into the room and has made it her own. Woodland bird themed with a feminine touch.

My 2-year old daughter Molly has two major areas of interest:  one is reading and the other is nature – birds, trees, and being outdoors.  When the time came to ditch the crib and move to a “big girl bed,” I designed her new room with her interests in mind.  

This client lives just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean and wanted the sea to be an underlying theme in a modern setting. She was not afraid to use bold colors and embraced the energy that the painted ceiling and bold fabrics created in the nursery.
