Elegant Pink Floral Nursery

I was so excited when my clients shared such a clear picture of what they wanted for their soon-to-be daughter’s nursery. This project all started with a very special request; to design a room that evokes the same feeling as their recent garden-themed wedding! I drew inspiration from floral arches, hanging chandeliers and soft rose accents to create an ethereal concept with elegant touches sprinkled throughout.
We started by sourcing an oversized rose wallpaper as the focal point and added pink accents for a kiss of colour through a patterned blush rug, muslin crib sheet, sheer canopy and two-tiered felt mobile. I’m a big fan of layering neutral and textural pieces into my designs to tone down a room’s colour palette. I truly can’t get over the stunning wood carved rosette crib, arched metallic mirror and white beaded pendant that we selected. And what’s a nursery without function? We added my go to favourite seagrass lided bins and brought in some smaller canvas pom pom bins to hold extra books and baby toys.
I love sourcing unique products from around the world and this dreamy linen floral wall trophy adds just a touch of French flare right when you walk in. To personalize the space even further, we framed my client’s stunning wedding headpiece in a delicate shadow box — what a special way to celebrate this beautiful couple’s love story. The end result is a charming nursery… like their very own secret garden.

Peaches and Creme Nursery, Made with Love

I had many different ideas and possible themes for our baby’s nursery (just check out my Pinterest Boards and you will see for yourself!)  I DID know that I wanted to use peach and coral colours for a girl’s room though, so once we found out we were having a baby girl that is where we started.  From there I got a few inspirational pieces (such as the image of the little girl eating the peach and the pair of little ceramic baby shoes) and I collected items that we already had from my childhood and from around our house (such as the quilt, the cradle, the ballerina music box, my knit and stuffed animals friends etc.) and her room started taking shape. Once I started my various handmade and DIY projects  her peaches and creme, feminine antique nursery with birdy accents really started coming to life.  Most of the projects in this nursery are handmade DIY projects and lots of the furniture we got for free, or on Kijiji, and re-vamped them to freshen them up and make them fit with the nursery.  This was definitely a nursery on a budget, the retail value of the larger items in the room would have come to around $1600 but we only spent $200 on all of those items!! So hopefully this nursery is inspiring and an example that you can create a really cute nursery on a budget!

Baby R’s Sweet Little Nursery

I wanted to create a nursery fit for a sweet little baby but one that can transition into a little girl’s room in the future. I also knew that this room would be used by Grandma and other visitors who come by often to help with the baby, so I needed to include a bed in it. This meant I had to forgo a glider/ottoman, but somehow we manage without one. I had a good size room to work with but did not want to clutter it with all things “nursery.” I wanted to use soft colors, fabrics, furniture, and decor that would not only look adorable but be practical for everyday use.

Contemporary Shabby Chic

Holiday’s nursery is peaceful and tranquil, but still lots of fun– and practical too! It started out as a vintage, shabby chic space, but took a new direction along the design path as I incorporated some more contemporary elements. At the end of the day, Holiday loves to be in her room and she looks at every little thing which makes all of the time planning, designing, shopping and painting SO worthwhile!

Modern Under the Sea Nursery

I fell in love with this modern under the sea crib bedding before I even knew if I was going to have a boy or a girl. Good thing it could go either way. I was on a very tight budget with this room so I made a lot of what is in the room or I bought something that was very inexpensive and altered it to make it look like more than it was. My only item that I was sad I couldn’t get was the Eames molded plastic rocker. That would have made this room perfect!
