Sweet and Elegant Pink and Tan Nursery
An elegant and sweet nursery.
An elegant and sweet nursery.
Decorating my first baby’s room was so exciting! I wanted to create a space that could grow with my child. Something that would not have to be changed when she got older. I began with a pink and white as the base colors for the room. After that, I chose furnishings that would work in a small space, items that provided good storage and would stand the test of time. We wanted a room that would feel truly special to her. I hope she enjoys growing up in it! Sources and more pictures on my and my baby’s blog:

For Claire’s nursery we chose the color scheme of yellow and gray. To steer clear of too much pink, we chose an aqua for her walls. I wanted to incorporate as many handmade items as we could. I am so grateful for my husband’s love of furniture building and am so happy with how the bookcase and window seat he built turned out. I am sure Claire will appreciate the hard work he put into making these pieces just for her . He also added crown molding to the room, which I believe makes the room look much more feminine! My mother in law is a sewing queen! She was able to make many pieces for Claire’s nursery, as well as her cradle bedding (not pictured). I’m not as crafty as my other half (and his family), but I did manage to create the wreath we hung on Claire’s door. It was one of the few handmade items I made while nesting!

“If I had a little girl, this is the room I would dream of.” – Gerri Panebianco, co-founder of Little Crown Interiors. Well, lucky for us (and Gerri especially), we got the opportunity to indulge our inner princesses when we designed this stunning nursery for a client in Southern California.
We know we wanted orange and gray, but when we found out we were having a girl, we threw in some pink as well!
Our bedroom-floor laundry room was converted to a nursery. The room is on the small side 9′ by 10′.Our home is 100 years old so we had to work with walls and floors that can barely boast a right angle among them.
Hand painted mural continuing the whole way around the room. The horizon created with the two different blue paints creates a feeling of space making the room feel bigger. Pale blue paint was chosen initially for its calming effect and the bright pink accents in the water lilies remind us this is a little girls room!
This is the babies room as it stands today. A lot of thought and time went into the planning of this room. I chose the baby bedding and woodland theme while my wife picked the colors and added all the touches to make it nice. We wanted to make a calm and inviting space. We also wanted the room to be as non-gendered as we could. Montessori ideas were also brought in ie. the work table, low hanging art, work shelves reachable by child, and nature real world theme. Take a look.
