I’m a planner, so I think it surprised people that I didn’t want to find out the gender of our baby before he was born.  I’d always known I wanted the nursery to be neutral (if we have more children, it will be shared because we live in a small house), so I didn’t need to know the gender in planning the nursery.  I choose a neutral color palette and furniture that would grow with our child.  I also let practical elements, like toys, books, and a magnet board become part of the design of the room since the space is rather small (with low ceilings too!).

Where did you get that table lamp? (the one near the giraffe)
Did you use that lamp as a nightlight?

      Kristen,

Kristen, I remember the color is Dolphin Fin, and I know it was from Home Depot. I’ll have to check on the brand name.

      Eskimoto,

Oops, forgot to mention the lamp! The lamp is IKEA as well. I chose it because it is plastic and wood, i.e. fairly unbreakable if it were to tumble down. We do use a low-watt bulb and turn it on in the middle of the night for feedings and diaper changes, sort of as a night light.

      jenniferalexis,

I love garland! This garland is made from felt, and obviously we will remove it once our baby boy is able to move around in his crib. :)
