How to Add a Personal Touch to Baby’s Space with DIY Nursery Details

I can’t wait to share with you the final reveal of Shannon’s nursery, but before I show you all the details, I want to highlight a few of the projects we completed to add a personal touch to the space. I think planning a nursery can be exciting and overwhelming all at the same time. There are so many things to consider, but once you have a direction, it is fun to come up with some simple projects to add just the right amount of DIY to such a special space. I hope you’ll be inspired to incorporate some of these DIY nursery details into your little one’s room!

This lamp has been passed down through all three of Shannon’s kids, and since the first two were boys, it was time for a fresh coat of PINK paint. In addition to spray painting the lamp raspberry pink, she also dressed up the shade with some darling aqua pom poms. Simply attach the pom pom trim using fabric glue or hot glue.

She also fancied up the floor lamp by adding some DIY yarn tassels.

Gallery walls are super hip and popular, and they’re a great way to bring some personality into a space. By combining found pieces, prints from local artists, crafted elements and a tassel garland, Shannon made the area above the changing table crazy cute and the perfect focal wall in the room. And how about that dresser? It’s another item that was passed on to Miss Liv—Shannon used three different shades of sorbet-colored paint to DIY this ombre dresser.

DIY marquee letters were prettied up with colorful paper, and they add personalization to the shelf.

The curtain rods received a quick coat of white paint and the finials were spray painted gold to match some other elements in the room, while a felt ball garland hangs as a layered element over the decorative window sheers.

The last DIY project in the space is the mobile made from tissue honeycomb balls that hangs over the crib area. Shannon chose a mix of sorbet colors in various sizes including 12″, 8″ and 5″ to create this fun, colorful visual element that finishes off this super sweet nursery. She used nylon filament to cluster the balls together and secure them to a hook in the ceiling.

Feeling inspired? All of these projects should keep you pretty busy until we reveal the entire room. In the meantime, share your projects and room designs in the project gallery.
