Last year, my daughter and I began making Witch Friends, and it is becoming a fun tradition now. Our witch friends live in different rooms of the house through the fall season, and we love having them hang out with us. I hope you all will pick up this trend for the season and let it fly just like the Elf on the Shelf at Christmas!
All you need are a few simple supplies.
Materials: baby pumpkins, small terra cotta pots, spray paint, painters tape, scrapbook paper, glue gun, ric rac, pompoms, decorative fabric brads
1. First tape off your design on the terra cotta pots using painters tape.
2. Make sure the tape is smoothed down so there are no holes for the paint to seep into.
3. Spray your pot and let it dry (approximately 1 hour).
4. Peel off your painters tape once paint is completely dry and set your pots aside.
Next, take your patterned scrapbook paper and cut out cone shapes.
Wrap the ends and glue the seam.
Glue the ric rac to the base of your cone.
Glue the bottom of the top pumpkin to the other and stack them.
Glue your pompom to the top of your hat. Place hot glue dots to the inside of the ric rac and glue on to top of top pumpkin. Voila! A cute little pumpkin hat.
Now you need eyes for your witch.
Push in your brads to create eyes and a nose. Lastly, place your pumpkin witch on top of your painted pots. You can even use little pails for bases.
What will your witch look like?

My daughter saw this while I was browsing and said it doesn’t look like a witch but a clown. Ha!

Thanks for this fun idea. This would really make a great DIY Halloween project with the kids.

LOL. She has a point. I’m gonna make one like this, but I’ll try to make it look more “witchy.”

I’m so glad that I came across this tutorial just in time for Halloween later tonight!
