Southern Inspired Nursery Reveal

I created this look for a client of mine who is a North Carolina native and was looking to pay homage to her Southern roots. She referred to her style as “Southern charm meets coastal,” and she envisioned a Southern inspired nursery, with soft blues and greens, and a serene vibe.

The Southern River Wallpaper Mural sets the scene for both the feeling and the color palette of this nursery design. It truly was the perfect find, and it works so well with the mint green crib my client fell in love with. Wall murals are a great solution for evoking a setting or mood, and the soft and subtle tones in this mural do just that. We chose to paint the remainder of the walls a muted light blue/green to create a sense of peacefulness and calm.

With the wall mural acting as the focal point of this design, we aimed to keep the remaining pieces more neutral and used a variety of textures for additional interest. The mixed neutrals of the glider, daybed, rug and chandelier all come together to create a layered look that’s cozy and soft.

This room was on the small side, as most nurseries are, but we were able to fit a twin size daybed in here. It will be a great place for mom or dad to fall asleep if needed and can still function for a guest. There are some boxes underneath for a little extra storage!

I really wanted to accent this room with a statement chandelier to bring everything together. This beaded chandelier is so pretty, and also has that little rope detail at the top which ties in with our color palette.

This was a small nursery, as most are, and in order to fit the daybed, we needed to re-work the closet a bit. A smaller changing table fits nicely inside, and my client bought a bunch of nice storage bins to go above.

This was such a fun nursery to watch come together! It started as an e-Design, but the client happened to be local. I was able to see progress shots, and we eventually went to shoot the whole room. She did an amazing job bringing our design to life!
