A Black and White Nursery Reveal

It’s been quite the year! I spent most of 2020 working on my book, and Covid certainly didn’t make things any easier. Right around the time that my manuscript was due to the publisher, I finished up a great black and white nursery for a client in Orange County, and we were able to sneak in a photoshoot right before the deadline!

My client had asked for a fully black and white nursery design. The room we are working with was on the small side, so we kept the walls nice and bright and brought in black as the accent. Luckily, the room has two large windows to let in lots of natural light. We started with the Harlow Acrylic Crib (a client favorite!) and then custom designed a dresser from Newport Cottages with the amazon black frame and acrylic handles!

Bear Art in Modern Nursery

The main feature of this nursery is the amazing oversized wall art! My client actually found this piece while shopping at a local gallery and fell in love with it. It’s an original painting by artist Chad Hasegawa. The piece is canvas and unframed, so it’s actually pretty lightweight, and we made sure it was securely installed!

Even though the room is small, we were able to fit in a nice glider. We went with the Vera Glider from Monte Design—one of my favorite gliders because it’s just so comfortable. We ordered it in their microsuede white with a contrast black pillow. We also brought in a black acrylic side table to mirror the acrylic on the crib.

As you can see, we brought in lots of other black and white decor. We used a cute zebra crib sheet, an “XO” throw blanket, and some simple white floating wall shelves to hold photos and small accessories. The black and white ottoman is so fun as well!

Black and White Dresser with Changing Topper

The black finish on the changing table is so gorgeous in person. We also had Newport Cottages make a matching changing tray, and then we chose the Hatch Baby Changing Pad, which my client loves! We finished off the design with a few gold touches, and of course, a giraffe for the corner.

There are more great shots of this nursery in my book, Your Perfect Nursery, which is available now at all major retailers!
