The Sweetest Pink Lemonade Nursery

When we caught a glimpse of this adorable nursery that we’ll dub the pink lemonade nursery, we knew we had to get all the details from the designer herself! Today Melissa Gambin, of Melissa Grace Designs, is giving us the scoop on this sweet, girly and fresh lemon inspired nursery. A former self-described medical sales workaholic, Melissa has found a new daring adventure in interior design. You can follow along and see more of her work on instagram. For now, let’s hear more about this lovely nursery.

Where did you pull inspiration for this nursery design?
My client and her husband are Italian and have a long history of traveling and even living in Italy. My client loved the idea of incorporating lemons to draw on the giant lemons from the Island of Capri (which happens to be this sweet baby’s middle name). After we found the amazing lemon wallpaper, everything evolved from there.

What part of the design process did you enjoy the most?
I am not typically drawn to a lot of color; I usually keep things in moody shades, neutrals, gray, etc. So it was a little out of my comfort zone to use not just color, but so many shades of pink, coral, mint and creams. It made my heart race a little bit, but the best projects sometimes do!

What is your favorite part or detail in the nursery?
I really love the lined dresser drawers. I found this great Rifle Paper Co. lemon paper, and I used Modge Podge to adhere it to the outside of the drawers. It’s a fun unexpected pop. I also really love the “once upon a time” script.

What is one thing that you would tell parents to consider when starting their own nursery design project?
Don’t fight what you already have. My client already had a beautiful tufted crib in a cream color. The original wallpaper that she liked had a white base that wouldn’t have worked with her crib. This is why mood boards can be so important to keep everything cohesive. Not everything should be matchy matchy (please no), but everything should look like it belongs.

Hi there! Absolutely LOVE this nursery! Especially love the wall paper and stuffed lemon on the end table. Can I ask where you got the wallpaper and lemon from? Would love to incorporate into my little girls nursery! Thank you!!

Hi Isabelle! Here is the wallpaper link, and it looks like the lemon bookend is made by an Etsy seller. Here is their shop (affiliate link)! Looks like the shop is on a break, but maybe you can message them. Good luck in your nursery design. Please post the finished result to our gallery! We'd love to see it.

Interested in knowing: 1. Where to order wallpaper from (name of wallpaper) 2. What is the paint brand and color? 3. Where did you get the drapes from (color, brand, etc.)?

Your design is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
