In the Big Kid Room with Sunny Circle Studio

Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m just smitten with this girl’s room. It’s no surprise really since it comes from the über talented Erin Wheeler, of Sunny Circle Studio. Seriously, check out her instagram—every space is so inspiring! This big girl room for her three-year-old daughter Zora masterfully combines a polished design with just the right amount of whimsy, making it perfect for a little girl to enjoy now and grow with. Thank you, Erin, for sharing with us!

What inspired your room design?
I wanted the room to feel whimsical and also sophisticated. I’m very much inspired by Scandinavian simplicity.

What was your favorite part of the process?
Seeing my daughter’s face when she got to see the finished room.

Designing a big kid room is different than a nursery because you know your little resident’s personality better. Anything special you included this time around?
She wanted it to feel very girly and happy, and requested lots of dolls, princesses and a new bed.

Any challenges you had to work around?
She keeps pulling the canopy down from the ceiling (she is a very curious and rascally three-year-old).

Do you have any words of advice for other designers and parents?

Hi Angel, The owner of this room didn't list the source, but I did a quick search of felt cactus on Etsy (affiliate link), and there are so many cute options. Happy shopping!

HI Beth - Can I ask what dimensions you ordered for the window seat cushion? I just ordered the two bins and whatever size cushion you ordered looks to fit on their perfectly!
