Today we are touring the nursery of Sophia Johnson, of Cultivate Motherhood. This Scandinavian inspired nursery is for her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, little cutie pie Elouise. On her site, Sophia shares her own experiences as a mother and works to support and empower other mothers on their own journeys. You can also find Sophia on instagram sharing bits of her life with her two girls. Thank you, Sophia, for sharing your space. Stay tuned readers, because we’ll be sharing her older daughter’s space soon, too!

Elouise’s nursery inspiration came from my amazing grandmother, who migrated here from Sweden. I always loved the blues and whites her home was filled with growing up. I wanted something that reminded me of my heritage, with a playful touch. I wanted it to be bright, with lots of texture, and for natural wood to be the focal point of the room.
I enjoyed filling up her wooden shelves (made by my husband) the most! I was really careful what I placed on those shelves. I wanted everything to be meaningful and cherished for years to come.
When starting your own nursery, think about what colors symbolize. Think about what those colors mean to you. Keep a mental journal of things that inspire playfulness and peace. For me, I wanted my girls to walk into a room that provokes playfulness, calmness and warmth. Just one wall of wallpaper can really add so much texture and design to your baby’s space.

My favorite part of Elouise’s room is for sure the wallpaper. Every time I look into her room, I am inspired and drawn into her space. It’s bright, cheerful and cozy!
