We all know the impact that wall color can make in a nursery or playroom. Picking that color? Well, sometimes it seems like a daunting task. Our friends at Lullaby Paints have helped to make it as easy as pie—these eco-friendly paints will make everyone happy with their rich, luxurious colors. From the comfort of your couch, you can order free paint chips, color cards or samples. And once you’ve picked your favorite color, they send it right to your front door. You can even order a complete kit with everything you’ll need to paint the room—no need to spend your weekend at the hardware store staring at way too many paint chips. The best part is that this paint is safe—so safe that it’s known in the industry as the safest paint available.
What about Lullaby Paints makes you most proud?
Knowing that we’re providing parents with the safest paints to help them create healthy spaces for their children.
What do you think people might not know about Lullaby Paints that you’d like to share?
We have a “brother” company called ECOS Paints that sells the same paint but also has a larger line of products, including non-toxic stains and varnishes, as well as many innovative, specialty products like MDF Passivating Primer, EMR Shielding Paint and Air Purifying Paint that adsorbs and neutralizes chemicals and pollutants, solvents and VOCs for improved indoor air quality. ECOS Interior Passivating Primer was actually used in the Louvre to adsorb the VOCs and humic acid released by the wooden display cabinets to better protect the priceless art pieces.
What advice do you have for parents when curating their nurseries? Any nursery must-haves?
Of course I believe an absolute must-have is safe paint. Painting with conventional paints can make indoor air pollution levels skyrocket. And just because that “new paint smell” is gone after a few days, that doesn’t mean the toxic chemicals are. VOCs aren’t only released when the paint is fresh (that “new paint smell”), they can off-gas for the next three to five years.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Our inspiration comes from the feedback we get from our customers. Since babies are not particularly articulate, we rely on grown-ups who have first-hand experience with illness caused by exposure to paint chemicals. Every week we receive emails with comments like, “Highly recommend, exactly as advertised! This is the first paint that I have ever used that did not give me a headache, make me nauseous or burn my eyes. I am very sensitive to all chemical smells, and I did not detect any paint smell while using this.” Given that babies are far more susceptible to toxic chemicals than adults, we know that safer products are absolutely essential for their well-being.
Any advice you wish someone had given to you?
I’ve actually received an abundance of good advice from many people—that has not been an issue. In reality, what I wish is that I had made better use of it.
