Today I am excited to introduce you to Avalisa, a company that offers beautiful canvas wall art and wool rugs that will make your nursery or playroom stylish and fun. When you’re designing a nursery, sometimes the best jumping off point is a gorgeous rug that you’ve fallen in love with or that one piece of wall art that makes you smile every time you see it. What do you think people might not know about Avalisa that you’d like to share?
Our company, Avalisa, is about to turn ten years old! When we look back on how we started out—e-commerce was still a pretty new way to shop, and modern baby products were rarely available in any stores—we are excited to still be connected with our customers and the modern baby design community.
Do you have a signature product or design element?
What’s ironic is that throughout the last ten years, some of our bestsellers are still our original designs. We are proud to have designs that are still relevant every year, no matter the nursery style trends that come and go. The simplicity of our designs stands strong through the years, and that is exciting to see time and time again.
What advice do you have for parents when curating their nurseries? Any nursery must-haves?
Don’t be afraid to mix and match high- and low-end items to achieve the look you want. If there are a couple of higher-end items that you love, go for it! Eight years later when you are on baby #3 or #4, you will still love that amazing crib or rocker you invested in that lasted through all of those days and nights of use. It is so worth it to feel beautiful and peaceful in a nursery every time you walk into the room.
Also, remember to edit. Some of the best design choices are the ones you didn’t include. So just ask yourself what you will really use or just love looking at, and go for those. Everything else is up for editing out of the room.
Where do you find your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from my Finnish grandmother. Her eye for mixing imagination and design is both inspiring and magical. The amount of beauty she brought to a room through design is unparalleled.
