Do you have a signature product or design element?
Our signature material is our bamboo blended muslin. We really like it because it is such a versatile material with so many benefits—it’s super soft and absorbent, breathable, durable and very lightweight.
What can we expect from you this year?
We are constantly working on developing new products, and we’re super excited to have just launched our changing bags, Hold by Nest Designs! I love my bags (but then again, what girl doesn’t?), so the design process was a lot of fun. I’m all about good design and function, so we did a lot of research to get them to a place where we were really happy to launch the line. Our focus was to bring style and functionality together to create pieces that would last beyond diapers. We should be releasing some other new items this fall, so stay tuned!
What advice do you have for parents when curating a nursery? Any nursery must-haves?
For me, the design process usually starts from a single point. I choose a key item that inspires a theme and work around that. It’s hard not to fall in love with everything, and it’s the whittling down that’s tough! If you are able to constantly reference one or two things in all of your other items, then everything will work together.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Traveling has really helped me to open my eyes, and it’s allowed me to grow as a person. It makes me feel excited, scared and small but appreciative. It has helped me to shape my perspective and find new light in everyday things. From the weave in a basket to the scales on a fish, it’s the little things that make up the big ones—that is to say it’s all in the details.
Tell us your motto.
Breathe. We often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our lives and take things for granted simply because we forget to stop and breathe. Breathing helps, honest!
