Welcome to our series spotlighting our Featured Vendors from our Vendor Guide. The guide includes carefully curated vendors from the baby and children’s industry in design, retail, special services and much more.
We are thrilled to spotlight Nook Sleep Systems today and share with you how they are changing the way babies around the world sleep. Not only are their mattresses well-designed and aesthetically pleasing, but they also use nature’s highest-performing materials, a carefully controlled fabric weave and innovative structural designs to foster sleeping environments that are optimized for breathability. Nothing beats a good night’s sleep for both baby and parents!
What about Nook Sleep Systems makes you most proud?
We have always stayed true to our original principles and foundation at Nook, which is to create products that are fun, innovative and easy to maintain, but most importantly products that are natural, eco-friendly, non-toxic and breathable. Kids love color and texture, and parents need the peace of mind that they’re using safe, natural and non-toxic products for their little ones. Nook is able to deliver to both children and parents, all while developing, sourcing and manufacturing in Northern America.
What can we expect from you this year?
COLOR! During the last year, we have developed two new gender neutral colors that we are really excited about. Both of these colors—Misty and Pacific—add maturity and sophistication to our product line, and we value that. We know our Nook parents want products that will fit into any space of their homes, and these colors make that possible.
What advice do you have for parents when curating their nursery? Any nursery must-haves?
Create a space that you and your partner enjoy, and keep it simple, non-toxic and safe. Our top two must-haves in any nursery are a breathable, non-toxic and plastic/vinyl free mattress like our Pebble Mattress and any Monte Glider (they are simply the best).
Where do you find your inspiration?
NATURE! A walk to the park, a trip to the beach or even long distance travel to a foreign country. It is from these experiences that many of our products’ components, names and colors have been inspired. Nook believes in staying true to our roots of providing the safest and highest quality products. This starts with sourcing organic materials offered from the earth such as coconut, cotton, latex, wool and eucalyptus.
Any advice you wish someone had given to you?
I wish someone had told me ten years ago NOT to accept things as they are. During my time with Nook Sleep Systems, I have learned—through creative problem solving, thinking outside of the box and looking to nature for effective materials—that safe and colorful products can trump the status quo. It is crazy to think that just shy of five years ago, plastic/vinyl mattresses were the industry standard. I am proud that Nook and other like-minded companies have encouraged parents to research and seek out safer and more natural alternatives.
