Marie Ricci is a skilled carver who really takes nursery lighting to the next level with her hand-carved ceiling medallions. We love how they dress up light fixtures with a pop of interest and elegance—it’s no wonder they’ve been spotted in so many celebrity nurseries! We also really adore Marie Ricci’s new line of DIY ceiling medallions. Each one is cast from a hand-carved original and sent to you unfinished so that you can completely customize it for your space. What about the Marie Ricci Collection makes you most proud?
Each product in the Marie Ricci Collection is a casting from my hand-carved original. Everything is made at my studio in Connecticut. I design, carve, create the molds, cast and paint. From start to finish, all products are made right here in the United States. We are truly a custom design studio.
Do you have a signature product or design element?
Without a doubt, Marie Ricci’s signature product line is our Ceiling Medallions for Kids’ Rooms. Lighting is so important when designing a nursery or child’s room, and with over 25 designs to choose from, there is something for every theme—from nautical to whimsical to floral and more. If you don’t see something that suits your design, just contact me and I’ll add it our list of future designs.
What is your biggest piece of advice for new parents?
Keep it simple. Keep it clean. Keep it safe.
Your motto?
I would have to say it’s, “Defy the odds!” Sometimes you really have to reach inside yourself when there is doubt. As a woman-owned company, I hit many road blocks when sourcing the tooling for my products. Keep leaning forward, and eventually you will defy the odds.
Any advice you wish someone had given to you?
Anything is possible. Do your research, listen to your heart and don’t ever give up. Make that dream a reality—I did!
