The Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair

As parents, we research safety standards, seek out the best products on the market and, of course, shower our babies with love and affection. It’s our job to make choices that are in the best interest of our children. Here at Project Nursery, we’ve always been drawn to Stokke products, and one of the reasons is because their products are designed with exactly the same intention. We’ve already professed our love for the Stokke Steps and the Sleepi, and today we’re back to tell you why we will always adore the classic Tripp Trapp.

Stokke Tripp Trapp

The Stokke Tripp Trapp is not your average highchair. When it debuted in 1972, it was the first-of-its-kind to boast long-lasting and ergonomic as two of its key features. And when we say long-lasting, we mean it—babies can securely and comfortably sit in the Tripp Trapp at six months (with baby set) and use the chair for life!

So what exactly makes a highchair ergonomic? We’re glad you asked! The Tripp Trapp allows for both depth and height adjustment of the seat and footrest. That means that your children will sit safely and comfortably for as long as they use the chair. Adjusting the seat ensures proper back support, and changing the position of the footrest as they grow means that they will always be able to sit with their legs in the ergonomically correct 90 degree position. That footrest also means older toddlers can easily climb up into the chair.

You might be wondering how the Tripp Trapp can provide support for a baby that is still working on sitting upright. Rest assured that our friends at Stokke have thought of everything. The addition of the Baby Set provides high back and rail support to give little people a secure and comfortable seat. And the Baby Set is not only easy to clean, but it’s also dishwasher safe—what’s not to love?

My favorite feature of the Tripp Trapp is that its design allows you to bring baby right up to the table with you. Without the added depth of a traditional highchair’s tray between your baby and the table, baby can truly be a part of the family—share meals, spend time together, interact and learn from each other, right from the very beginning. To top it all off, cleaning the Tripp Trapp couldn’t be easier—simply wipe down, and you’re done!

If you’re a design enthusiast like me, you’re definitely going to fall for the Tripp Trapp’s design. Each chair is made from high-quality European beech wood, but that’s where standard stops. From there you can choose from a variety of neutral finishes and rich colors and customize it even more with the beautiful and unique choices for the Baby Set colors and cushion designs—this is one chair that you can personalize to your heart’s content!

The blue Tripp trapp shown above is that the new aqua blue color one with the grey loom cushion? It’s so nice looking. On their site it looks a lot darker so I wasn’t sure. Thx
